Message From Principal Doug Plucker
Greetings AIM students and families,
Over the next few weeks, we will be putting a focus on attendance at AIM. Parents and Guardians can help by making sure to call 360-563-3400 if your student will be absent, arrive late or leave early. You can also email Dara at: dara.darlington@sno.wednet.edu or log in to Skyward and enter attendance there. It is really important that we hear from you in a timely manner. Thank you for your help in supporting your students success.
Staff and students will be participating in Advisory lessons aimed at reviewing attendance policies and procedures as well as rolling out our newly created Truancy Board.
Students who have missed once a week classes 4 times or twice a week classes 7 times will be referred to the AIM HS Truancy board. Together with student and parent/guardian, we will create a success plan to improve attendance and school success. This positive intervention is intended to prevent students from being dropped from classed for chronic absenteeism. Stay tuned for more details in the upcoming weeks.
What does it mean to be part of the AIM Family?
AIM is a close-knit community that values relationships and strives to support each student and staff member. I wanted to share a few examples of how our community has come together recently to support one of our own.
Our amazing math teacher Yulia, was born in Soviet Ukraine, which became independent in 1991. She grew up in peaceful times but has many memories of WW2 and post war times from her parents, grandparents and in books, movies, and songs. She also learned about many of the atrocities Communist Russia perpetrated toward Ukraine. In 1996 she and her family moved to the United States. They have long been active in the Ukrainian community of Washington by participating in cultural events and helping others learn about Ukraine and it’s fight for democracy. The current aggression from Russia in Ukraine has been difficult for her. She has the safety of family, friends, and the entire country of Ukraine in her heart and on her mind.
One of our students took the initiative to rally the student body in support of Yulia. They created a card and gift basket to present Yulia as a symbol of solidarity and support. Yulia was overcome with emotion and said “We have the best students. This made me cry, but in a good way.”
Courtney, our science teacher is a talented graphic artist and designer. She made over 150 T-shirts and bags that were sold at support rallies for Ukraine over the weekend. This will end up providing around $3,000 for a non-profit group supporting the crisis in Ukraine.
Yulia would like to thank her coworkers, students, and community members for standing with people of Ukraine. Your support means a lot!
AIM is a wonderful place where learning is guided by empathy and support. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with the best students and staff imaginable.
Doug Plucker,

Search and Apply for Scholarships at theWashBoard.org. The Local Scholarship Program (LSP) scholarships through the Snohomish Education Foundation (SEF) will be posted to the Washboard beginning February 1st. See Derek for more info.
Private scholarships are one tool to help make college or training after high school more affordable. Businesses, organizations, and colleges award scholarships to students for community service, good grades, athletic ability, or a variety of other qualities or activities.
Students in Washington can create a profile on the WashBoard.org to be matched with potential scholarship opportunities. The site is spam-free and will never sell your information.
This Winter, our Local Scholarship Program (in partnership with the Snohomish Education Foundation) will post several scholarships available exclusively to Snohomish School District students. This is another reason to register on this specific platform.
If you have questions about scholarship opportunities, you are encouraged to contact Derek in-person, via email or phone.

AIM HS Specific Schedules during weather related school delays or closures
Following are the AIM HS specific schedules when there are weather related school delays or closures:
The District determines what the response to a weather event will be and will call and email either the night before or in the morning. Notices are also placed on school websites.
Here is how it will work for AIM HS:
1. If schools will be entirely closed the district message will state the closure.
2. If there is a two-hour delayed start Monday thru Thursday the following will apply:
No AM session
PM session will occur at the normal start time of 11:30a.m.
3. If a two-hour late start occurs on a Friday the following will apply:
- Schools will start two hours after usual starting times.
- Schools will dismiss at their regular (Monday through Thursday) dismissal times and NOT the regular Friday two-hour early release times.
For AIM this means: a two hour late start on a Friday will be:
AM session will be 10a.m. to Noon
