Welcome Back!
Happy New Year! Everyone is excited to be back in the school routine after the Holiday Break! I hope your break was relaxing and filled with time with family and friends. We are moving into "assessment season" at this time of year. Local Assessments began in December and are finishing up next week. All ELL students (including those who have waived services) will be taking the ACCESS test over the next few weeks. Also, classroom teachers will be administering the Fountas and Pinnell assessment to determine each student's reading level. Later in the year, students in grades 3-5 will be given the PARCC assessment. More information will be given on PARCC as we get closer to the dates.
For those who utilize the Alchester pick-up line after school, the weather forecast predicts snow over the weekend. This typically causes delays in the pick-up line when the snow accumulates along the curb. In the event that this happens, we will be loading students from the sidewalk that connects to the street. I know this takes more time, but it is safer for children. I appreciate everyone's patience with this process.
Respectfully,
Jeff Mitchem

Lincoln Parents,
I’m writing to ask you to attend a session about our facilities January 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Monroe Middle School. I have attached a PDF of the postcard invitation to this email.
At the last facilities session on December 2, parents and community members heard about many of the needs at Lincoln. The way 21st century students are learning is changing - our schools need to adapt to match those educational needs. Some of our major needs identified include improvements to our roof and enhancements to the Library Learning Center (LLC).
On January 20, I will share with you some options to address our needs at Lincoln. Some options to address needs include LLC expansion and the addition of collaborative spaces. You will learn more about those details at our session.
You will also be able to visit tables with information about Edison Middle School, or any other school in the District.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions. You can follow this link to read more and watch a short video about what a Facilities Master Plan is and why the District is creating one.
Sincerely,
Jeff Mitchem
