Tiffin Elementary
Friday Note- 9/6/19
Notes from Mrs. Stull
9/6/19:
Tiffin Elementary Families:
Thanks again to all parents/guardians for helping to make safety a top priority at Tiffin Elementary. There is, however, one safety protocol that gets ignored the most and that is visitors in our academic hallways. Parents/guardians are NOT allowed to walk students down the academic halls to their classrooms in the mornings. Parents are allowed to walk their students into the lunchroom and the foyer. All visitors MUST sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge.
Here are the concert dates for Tiffin Elementary. All concerts will take place at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at the High School.
October 28--2nd Grade Fall Concert, 6:30 pm
December 12--Kindergarten Holiday Concert, 6:30 pm
December 12--3rd Grade Holiday Concert, 7:30 pm
March 10--1st Grade Musical, 6:30 pm
We will be starting our Fall FAST testing next week. Be sure that your student has a good night sleep and breakfast so they can perform their best. We will be testing their reading and math fluency as well as their reading comprehension.
Homecoming week is coming up soon. See below for our dress up days. If you are planning on attending the game, please remember that elementary aged students are to be sitting with their parents and footballs/athletic balls are prohibited.
Want to get more involved in your student’s school? A great way to get involved is by joining Tiffin Elementary’s Parent Teacher Group (PTG). Meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30. All Tiffin Elementary parents are invited. There will be childcare available.
Have a great weekend!

Park Road Closures!!!
Rathje Construction will be closing N. Park Road twice in the upcoming weeks.
The first closure will be the weekend of September 13-15. They will likely set up the barricades after 6:00PM on Friday, September 13th. Park Road will reopen as soon as the sanitary sewer work is completed and should be open for school traffic on Monday, September 16th.
The second closure will begin at 6:00PM on Friday, September 20th. This closure will be longer, lasting for approximately three weeks. This closure will remove the existing pavement on N. Park Road and install part of the circular section of the roundabout pavement as well as the entry and exit lanes on N. Park Road. All traffic to and from the schools will be routed on Croell Avenue, north to Oakdale Boulevard, then east to Park Road. Large message boards will be set up on September 13th to inform the passing public of this closure.
Both closures are subject to weather conditions. If weather delays the start of the closures, they will be postponed until the following weekend. Weather delays during the closures may cause the closures to be extended past the anticipated reopening dates. Please help inform everyone so we can minimize the confusion that these closures will cause.

Important Information
Birthday Rock:
Please help remind our students to NOT climb on our birthday rock. We would hate to have a student get injured.
The BackPack Program: Weekend Food Program:
We participate in a program called Operation BackPack. This is a partnership between HACAP and all of the CCA Elementary Schools. The BackPack program provides a food pack of kid-friendly, non-perishable food for children on the weekends and during school breaks. This is a FREE program, without cost to families. It is also kept completely confidential – only the counselor and school nurse will be aware of participating families. If this would be helpful for you and your children, please contact Brandi Haight by phone at (319) 545-2081 or by email at brandihaight@ccaschools.org. There is a limited number of spots available, so it is important that you call or email to get your child’s name on the list.
Shoes That Fit:
Shoes That Fit is a program that is established to help provide shoes or boots to children in need. If your child is in need of shoes or winter boots, and this program would be helpful to you, please contact Brandi Haight at the school.
