SPECIAL THANKS
On September 5, Japanese Blossoms restaurant hosted a fundraising evening for the Bidwell Junior High School Foundation. It was a very successful event, with 20% of the dinner proceeds going to the Foundation. The Foundation would like to give a BIG "shout out" and "thank you" to all who helped make this event a success. The real winner here is the Bidwell staff and students, as all proceeds go back to the school in the form of staff grants which in turn helps support the quality education that the BJHS students receive.
Thank you!!

SUICIDE/VIOLENCE PREVENTION WEEK
Bidwell Junior High School will host a Violence & Suicide Prevention week from September 17 – September 20th. On Monday, September 17th, a presentation from Jason Miller, Detective from Butte County, will focus on cyber safety. It will be given to all 7th grade students in the library. The video will cover cyber safety and legal implications regarding social media. Your child will not only learn effective tools when dealing with internet, cell phone and social media usage, but the responsibilities and ramifications that come with today’s technology.
School Counselors will be speaking about Violence and Suicide Prevention to all 7th grade students on Thursday, September 20th. School Counselors will educate students on learning the signs of depression, risk factors, prevention and resources available to youth. We will discuss these topics and students will know where they can turn to if they are dealing with similar feelings in their own lives.
Throughout the week, we will have individuals from various community agencies on campus to hand out resources and answer questions during lunchtime regarding Violence and Suicide Prevention. Materials and video used in this curriculum are available for review in the Counseling Office. We will have applicable resources and websites listed on our Bidwell Jr. Website.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lisa Winslow, Sandra Villaseñor or Melanie Skelly in the Counseling Office at 891-3080 (lwinslow@chicousd.org , svillase@chicousd.org, meverdone@chicousd.org). Thank you for your support.
