Frankfort School District 157-C
A Note From the Superintendent - Illinois School Report Card
November 6, 2023
Good Afternoon Frankfort School District 157-C Families,
The Illinois State Board of Education has released the annual Illinois Report Card at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The Illinois Report Card contains school performance data from the 2022-23 school year for our three schools. This is an annual accountability measure that is important to all in our school community. We know that one reason families choose to live in this community is to send their children to Frankfort 157-C schools. For the Board of Education, district and building administrators, and all the staff at Grand Prairie, Chelsea, and Hickory Creek, it is imperative we create the educational environment that best serves our students learning and growth.
It is evident that our teachers, support staff, and administrators, in partnership with families, continue to be incredibly successful in executing the mission of the school district.
On our 2023 Illinois Report Card, we are proud to share that our students achieved their highest ever marks on the ELA and math assessment for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The IAR is given to students in grades three through eight. As a district, 82% of our students met or exceeded grade level standards in ELA and 72% of our students met or exceeded grade level standards in math. Frankfort 157-C students performed in the top 1% of the entire state of Illinois on this assessment for both content areas.

We must celebrate the achievements of those students who have made progress just as equally as those that were already meeting standards.
According to our 2023 Illinois Report Card, no matter the background of our students it is clear that our staff have had a major impact on their learning. Demographic data demonstrates that our educators are meeting the learning needs of students from all backgrounds.
Below is our overall growth percentile for all 157-C students, and our growth by demographic group. The growth percentile data, by subgroup, demonstrates strong growth rates, many of which are comparative to that of our entire student population. We commend our teachers for their excellent work.

It is also equally important to communicate that our schools, and the staff and students in them, are more than test scores. Grand Prairie, Chelsea, and Hickory Creek are a home away from home for our students and staff. Our schools focus not only on academic success but also on relationships, personal social-emotional growth, and opportunities in extracurriculars and athletics. We strive to forge strong bonds with families and community and to prepare our students move forward to the next step in their educational journey. We desire that all students will love their school and think of their experience in our three schools as positive and fun while providing them the opportunity to pursue their individual interests.
All district schools are required to participate in a survey of learning conditions annually. This is called the Illinois 5Essentials. This is one way we assess the climate of our buildings. Students in fourth through eighth grade, teachers and staff, and parents take this survey each winter.

Report Card Presentation
At the November regular Board of Education meeting, our administrative team will present a much more detailed report of all indicators measured on the Illinois Report Card, including the overall "Exemplary" and "Commendable" designation status of our three schools, financial expenditure data related to student and operational costs, and areas for improvement.
Sincerely,
Doug Wernet
