TIME TO DECORATE

We are so excited that some of our Peer to Peer students had some extra time to decorate our office door for winter. They worked so well together and did a FUNTASTIC job!

PRIDE PASSES/MARTIAN MARKET

WE HAVE OPENED THE MARTIAN MARKET!

Students earn PRIDE Passes from adults in the building for showing GMS PRIDE. They can then take those PRIDE passes and redeem them for prizes and snacks in the Martian Market. The market is open on Fridays during lunch. One group of girls recently came together with their PRIDE passes to buy their 5th hour an ice cream party!

If you would like to donate any items you think middle schoolers would love we would gladly accept donations to the market. Hot items have been fun socks, snacks, candy bars, mini footballs and various small prizes.

Thank you!

I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM

Students in Mrs. LaRowe’s 5th hour math class were treated to an ice cream sundae celebration - compliments of classmates Anna Ayre, Calli Carson and Avery Fullwood. These 3 generous students used their GMS PRIDE passes at the Martian Market to “buy” the ice cream party. Although the cost was 50 passes, the experience was PRICELESS!

**A BIG shout out to Principal Mitchell for providing the sundaes and doing the scooping!

ROAD TRIP

MATH APPLICATION IN THE "REAL WORLD"

Students in Mrs. LaRowe’s 6th grade math classes planned a road trip for themselves and a friend. They had to decide which destination to visit in Michigan, gas needed to travel, cost of meals, and even purchased souvenirs. Some students were fiscally responsible and others went all out since their budget was unlimited!

Some chosen destinations:

● Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes since it was recommended by Google

● Grand Rapids to visit their art museum

● Charlevoix for the scenic views

● Port Austin for the cheeseburger festival

No matter the outcome, students had insightful discussions, used technology to explore options, and justified their decisions. All important “real-world” practice when remembering that life is a journey…not a destination.

Student Council and Lion's Club thank YOU!!

GMS Student Council and the Goodrich Lions Club would like to thank everyone who donated items to our annual food drive! The food will be used to make food baskets here in Goodrich so all families were able to have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Our final count came in at 1,585 items!

Thank you for opening your hearts and pantries this holiday season to help those less fortunate in our community.
