I hope you had a fantastic three-day weekend. I know I did. It was fantastic to spend some time with family and friend and to enjoy some nice weather. I hope you had an opportunity to do the same.
There are just four work days this week. I know you will make the most of them!

Climate Committee Update

Staff Chats will take place on September 13 and will be in the Learning Commons during lunches and after school. We hope to see you there.
September 16th will be Staff Night at the Football game. Pre-game begins at 6:30 and the game begins at 7. Bring your friends and family to fill up the reserved staff section as the Knights take on the Vikings.
At this point in the school year, we have seen a 13% decrease in the percentage of infractions from our students who are free/reduced lunch. This is a new and significant component of our school improvement plan.
Introducing FHSD Innovation Time:
Each month, FHSD is inviting all staff to drop in for a monthly Tech - PD opportunity on the second Thursday of the month. This time can be used to ask questions about a tech tool that teachers are interested in, or for assistance with a tech program that teachers or administrators have started to use.
This month’s meeting will be held at the District Learning Center. Doors open for Innovation Time at 2:45 PM, and staff are welcome to drop in at any time until 5:30 PM Short 20-minute presentations will occur at 3:00 PM, 3:40 PM, and 4:45 PM around this month’s topic: Building Your Professional Learning Network.

2016-2017 Staff Commitments to the Learning Environment
In order to improve the climate/environment at FHN, the staff commits to:
1. building positive relationships with students and staff members.
2. listening to the concerns of others and by helping to problem solve those issues.
3. helping students to see the relationship between effort and success.
4. being open-minded to new ideas.
5. addressing any inappropriate behavior immediately to help set an expectation of appropriate hallway and classroom behavior.
6. giving clear and consistent expectations for device use and by enforcing them.
7. counting tardies consistently.
