New Franklin Website Unveiled

We are finally ready to announce the unveiling of our new building website. Every school in the district's website will go live starting Monday, December 8. If you have children attending different schools you'll find the sites are fairly similar, which is easier for you to manage as parents. We hope our updated site provides easy access to school items in an easy to manage format. This site will serve as a "one-stop-shop" for all your Franklin contacts and needs. The web address will remain the same:

Congratulations to the students who were selected to participate in the 29th annual Opus Honor Choir. They performed in a concert on Thursday, November 20th on Iowa State University's campus. The students included: Lauren Beer, Cael Joens, Lydia Kilgore, Paul Linville, and Madelyn O'Brien. Cael was also chosen as a soloist in the event. Great job Mrs. Fitzgerald and students! Franklin is proud of you!

PBIS-Snow Bucks

A special promotion began when we returned from holiday break this week. Instead of Bolt Bucks teachers will be handing out Snow Bucks. Snow Bucks can be used just like bolt bucks in the Bolt Store. However the special promotion during December will be for student to spend their Snow bucks for gifts they will see in the display case on third floor. A few things will already be in the display case prior to break, but other things will continue to add to the display during the days following break. These gifts are for students who would like to use them for holiday gift giving to family members or friends. The Franklin Student Council will be wrapping these gifts if requested. Gift wrapping will take place before and after school as well as during the lunch hour. Students will fill out a form if they want their gift wrapped. Our wrapping session will begin on December 18th and end on the 22nd.

One Season Ends & Another Begins

Boys' basketball and girls' swimming officially ended prior to break and this week. We are ready to begin the next wave of offerings that include girls' basketball and boys' swimming. Both sports begin Monday, December 8. Athletes must have an updated physical and a signed concussion form before they're allowed to participate in a practice. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call. We'd love to see a large number of students participate.

Save Your Hy-Vee Receipts

For some, the holidays bring about multiple trips to the grocery store. Did you know you can bring your receipts into Franklin where we'll receive money back from Hy-Vee at the end of the year? Bring in receipts from Cedar Rapids and Marion Hy-Vees at anytime during the year and help your school.

There's also a new app available called "Shoparoo". It's easy to use and rewards schools when you take a picture of your receipts. Follow the link to access their site:

Student Council Bell Ringing

The Franklin Student Council will be Bell Ringing at the Oakland Rd. and 1st Ave. Hy Vee’s starting on Friday this week. They will do 1 hour shifts between 10:00 and 12:00 on Dec. 5th, 12th, 19th, and Monday Dec. 22nd. The student council is looking for adults to help by standing with or being with the kids during their shifts. Most often the adult gets to stand inside (stay warm) during this time. In having two locations I just need to know that the kids have an adult to go to if they need something. Students will be transported to the locations so the adults would not have to worry about transporting students. Let Mrs. Dvorak know ASAP if you can help out for one or two hours on any of these days. The student council is excited about getting our students out in the community and help with such an important service project.
