1950's Culture

Television:

Television struggled to become a national mass media in the 1950's, and became a cultural force – for better or worse – in the 60's. Before these two decades were over the three national networks were offering programs that were alternately earth shaking, sublime and ridiculous. They played every show in Black and White screening.

Integrated Circuit:

It is called an integrated circuit because the components, circuits, and base material are all made together, or integrated, out of a single piece of silicon, as opposed to a discrete circuit in which the components are made separately from different materials and assembled later. IC's range in complexity from simple logic modules and amplifiers to complete microcomputers containing millions of elements.
