Blended Learning
Thanks to Mary, Amy, and Sharri for sharing information on blended learning. It was great to see some of teachers try it out. If you would like to see them in action, make some arrangements with me to cover your class.
Here are some of your definitions of blended learning....
- Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace.
- Offering multiple instructional strategies to meet a variety of learner levels and learning styles while focusing on the same standard or learning target.
- Stations for middle schoolers that implements technology as a tool.(Carousel?)
- Stations
- Enhancing skills, content, and learning by creating centers that incorporating technology and activities.
- Blended Learning is an educational method that allows for some student choice of path, utilizes online learning content, and provides many opportunities for small group or individual instruction.
- Having students use more technology in the classroom to further educate them.
- " The ability to teach to multiple learning styles/levels within the same lesson/classroom "
- Blended learning is student centered with each student doing a project or assignment designed to enhance learning. Not all students will be doing the same thing at the same time. The teacher is either working with a group of students or monitoring all as they work. Computers may also be a component if necessary.
- A combination of teaching methods that includes both teacher led learning and technology/online learning. Also I believe it allows for more student control (on the technology side) with the structure of what they do.
- Using multiple ways of teaching kids which allows them to work at their pace and ability level.
- Using technology in your classroom where everything the student needs is available to them. They can work at their own pace and move forward without having to wait for further instruction.
Steve Ventura
I had the great opportunity to listen to Steve Ventura last Tuesday. His topic was, "Functioning as a High Performance Leadership." He had many interesting and insightful comments. He even talked about Mindsets and Carol Dweck study.
He believers there are three behaviors that positively influence people.
- They commit to continually learning.
- They share what they know.
- They engage with people that mutually benefit everyone involved.
There are many more resources on his website. Take some time an look over his ideas.
