A Message from our Principal...
Hello to all of our Birmingham Families!!!
Can you believe that this time next week school will be in session?!?!? I've been waiting for this all summer!! Bring on the Bears!!!!!
We are ready to welcome all of our new and returning Bears at Meet The Teacher Night!!
*When: Tuesday, August 14th
*Time: 4-6 p.m.
*Where: Birmingham Elementary
*What to expect: Meet your teacher(s), tour your new classroom(s), meet our Birmingham PTA and learn about volunteer opportunities & membership benefits, technology will be available to complete your volunteer background check application, spirit gear will be available for purchase in the Cubs Den, and so much more!!
*Additional things to know: each grade level will have grade level specific information sessions (times listed in flyer-attached); Times have been updated since last advertised.
Construction Update & Temporary Arrival and Dismissal Plan: (maps attached)
If you drove by BES this summer you noticed the construction going on at the front of the school. When it’s done, we will have a new office area that will help increase safety, provide covered drop off and pick up and give us more working space.
Meet The Teacher Night is still on and we will still welcome our Bears on the First Day of School on August 16th!! To help keep traffic moving safely as they wrap up construction, we have a temporary traffic plan for arrival and dismissal. Please see the attached map for the new routes.
The biggest change is the front driveway is not available for any traffic. For drop off/pick up please use the east lot. The BLUE route on the map. This is one we have always used, but we will not be dismissing by grade level. If you wish to park, please use this lot or the north lot.
Buses will use the front west lot. Please do not drive or park in this lot. It creates a safety issue for our buses.
We will have extra staff to help direct students and parents. Please be patient and allow a little extra time, especially during the first week or two. Once construction is complete, we will resume normal arrival and dismissal procedures. I will let you know as soon as construction is complete.
Speaking of social media and spreading the news….
Be sure to follow us on our Birmingham Elementary School Facebook and Twitter @Birmingham_Bear for campus information, campus events and pictures of our Bears learning throughout the school year. Please share this information with our new Bears. We want everyone connected to #BES1team1dream ! We also LOVE it when you use your #BES1team1dream on your posts about the GREATNESS at Birmingham!!
***STAY TUNED***
Next week we will be posting and sharing Birmingham Basics.
Example: What time do the doors open each morning? When does my child eat lunch? etc.
***If there is something you would like us to include in the Birmingham Basics, please email Mrs. Doolan at Tiffany.Doolan@WylieISD.net
