Junior High Info

We are well into October, and the calendar is beginning to fill with Junior High dates. On Friday, your student should have come home with a blue flyer announcing Junior High Magnet Information Meetings for Westwood (Nov.11) and West (Nov.18). I strongly encourage you to attend both meetings, even if you are certain about which Junior High you want your child to attend. Both have new and interesting programs. Arm yourself with all the facts before making a final decision! Registering early for the meetings (see back of blue flyer) will speed up the check-in process the day of the meetings.

Social Media

Navigating social media is tricky! How much freedom should your child have? What kinds of conversations are they having? What about privacy? What about trust? On October 5th, CNN aired a special report called #Being13: Inside the Secret World of Teens. As you are preparing for junior high, this report may give you some insights regarding social media usage and what it looks like as a teenager in today's climate. The link below will connect you to the CNN article. At the end of the story is the link to the show. You do have to create a CNNgo account to watch the entire show. To sign into CNNgo, simply sign in with the same username and password that you use to access your TV provider account.
