Horizon Elementary
Where Leaders Are Made
A Letter From Mr. Richardson
Dear Families,
As this unprecedented time in our country brings many unanswered questions, Madison City is putting student safety first by closing our schools beginning today. I would like to reassure you that we at Horizon are doing everything we can to provide our students with the best optional learning opportunities possible. Below you will find the most important details that we feel parents need to know as we transition to our homes. During the course of our school closure our thoughts are with you as you take care of yourselves and your families.
Sincerely,
Rodney Richardson
Report Cards
Parents can access their child's report card through INOW. Hard copies will be available when school resumes.
Google Classroom
Due to our recent closure teachers have created Google Classrooms that will have a variety of optional learning activities students can work on during this time. You will receive an email from your child's teacher with instructions to access their google classroom. In addition to the google classroom, Horizon's homepage has links to SuccessMaker, Clever, and Classworks. To find Clever go to horizon@madisoncity.k12.al.us. Clever is the first link under quick-links. Once in Clever students will automatically be logged in to things such as Chesskids, SuccessMaker, etc. Select login with google, students will log in the same way they log in at school. We encourage your children to take time everyday and participate in the activities their teachers post.
Feeding our Children
We will be partnering with House of the Harvest, a local food pantry to feed our students in need during the closure. Groceries with be bagged and delivered to their doorsteps to limit contact with others. If you are in need of this service please contact Jennifer Walker at jlwalker@madisoncity.k12.al.us. If you would like to help this effort, please go to houseoftheharvest.com and look for the "coronavirus school closure" article and click on the link that says "click here".
#FamilyTime Challenge
We would love for you to share your family pics while you are using Google Classroom, playing games or doing anything else creative during this time. Share those on either twitter or facebook with the hashtag #FamilyTime and use @hrznes.
More info to come....
As we are updated throughout the closure we will communicate via email. Please look for updates from Mr. Terrell, interim superintendent.
