Principal's Message
Dear Sabre Families,
We are nearing the end of quarter two which signals the halfway point of the school year. Through a challenging time in our lives, we have worked together and are looking forward to the second half of the school year and to all the hope and optimism it will bring.
The return of our students this past week was filled with energy, excitement, and to a degree, anxiety for some. As we have been intentional and mindful of since the beginning of the school year. If your child is struggling in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
This week brings us to our final week of classes for Quarter Two as we prepare our students for final exams next week and the opportunity for students to attain maximum credit in the option courses. As a reminder of the exam schedule, please see below.
Quarter 3 starts on February 1, and is another opportunity for students to opt for online or in person learning. If your child is a current out-of-school learner and would like to remain out-of-school or switch to in-school learning for Quarter 3, there is an intention form that must be completed on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This form is due Monday, January 18. If your child is currently in-school learning and would like to go online for Quarter 3, please notify the General Office at SAL. If your child wishes to continue with in-school learning, no action is required on your part.

We are excited to announce that Salisbury graduation dates have been set. The dates are June 23, 24 & 25, 2021. Grad photos will take place at the school from Monday, January 25 - Friday, January 29. ICON will be following all AHS guidelines with appointments 30 minutes apart. With Covid-19 restrictions in place this year, we are unable to offer photos with friends or pets. Please complete the Covid-19 screening questionnaire prior to your child's appointment https://www.alberta.ca/assets/documents/edc-covid-19-screening-questionaire-english.pdf
Photos will take place in the cafeteria. Please park in the back parking lot and enter and exit the building through the cafeteria door (closest to Festival Place).
If you were unable to book into the school photo sessions, Icon will be opening more sessions in the studio in February and will extend monthly as needed. To book a photo time at the studio call 780-449-3558 or go to www.iconexp.com and book your event.
School Council
Welcome back!
I often get asked why School Council is important at high school; after all, our kids are almost adults. School Councils, however, may advise the principal which is an important role. At our January meeting, we will be reviewing school fees and Salisbury’s 2019-20 results. According to EIPS administrative procedures, principals must consult School Councils twice about potential school fees, so Mr. Sandhu will reviewing our current and proposed school fees for 2021-2022. We will also be discussing the top 3 successes and challenges based on the Accountability Pillar and diploma exam results from last year. These discussions provide an excellent opportunity for parents to provide meaningful input on topics important to us.
Our next meeting is Thursday, January 28 at 6:00 p.m. I hope to see you there! To join the meeting, please see the Google Meet blog on the www.salcomp.ca website. Please review the minutes from our November meeting and the January 28 Agenda below.
Thank you,
