A Season of Gratitude
As we enter November, I encourage every member of our Wildwood community to embrace a spirit of reflection and gratitude.
In November, a month characterized by the gentle transition to cooler days and vibrant autumn colors, we, at Wildwood Elementary, embrace the spirit of gratitude. As the leaves gracefully fall, signaling the changing season, it serves as a poignant reminder to reflect on the many reasons we are thankful. This month of Thanksgiving provides us with an opportunity to appreciate the supportive community we've built, the dedicated educators, staff members, and volunteers shaping our students' futures, and the collective efforts that make our school a nurturing environment. Let us take a moment to acknowledge the richness that surrounds us and instill in our students the value of gratitude as we continue to foster a positive and collaborative learning atmosphere at our school.
This coming week is a 4-day school week with NO SCHOOL on Friday due to Veterans Day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and we'll see you tomorrow.
Warmly,
Mr. Lynch

Wildwood Spelling Bee
On Monday, November 27, Wildwood will conduct the first round of this year's school spelling bee. All interested 4th and 5th grade students are invited to the MPR at 12:40pm after they eat lunch to take a 25-question spelling test that will determine the 8-12 students who will move forward to our final spelling bee in December. Any 4th or 5th grade students who are absent on November 27 may join us for a make-up test at the same time and place on Tuesday, November 28.
Odyssey of the Mind
We are excited to announce that Wildwood plans to participate in the 2024 Odyssey of the Mind competition. Odyssey of the Mind is not just about competing and problem-solving – it is about friendship and family. During OM competitions young people are encouraged to meet new friends and to watch and learn from the ideas of others. Odyssey of the Mind puts learning into action and has made learning fun for decades! HERE is a description of the program. Additional information can be found at https://www.socalodyssey.org/ . Please contact Wildwood parent, Teo Francu, at teodor.francu@gmail.com to express interest in joining a team.
STEAM Update
This week went fast! We wrapped up our bat making in our 1st and 2nd grade classes and our Kindergarteners learned about composting and read Pumpkin Jack.
Next week we will be learning about leaves, and I have a HUGE ask -for students to bring in as many different kinds of leaves as possible! Students can bring them in in a ziplock bag and leave in the front office in my STEAM box.
Fresh leaves work best 😊
I am also in need of a TON of pipe cleaners (HERE, HERE, HERE, or HERE) of all sizes and colors for an activity we are doing the end of the month.
