Quoi de neuf à ÉPK
la semaine du 4 - 8 octobre
A message from your principal
It's hard to believe that our first month of school is already over, but here it is October. This past week, amongst all our regular learning activities, we integrated activities to honor National Truth and Reconciliation Day and the Legacy of Terry Fox. Thank you for your contribution to "Toonies for Terry". We have not counted all the money but I will report the total next week.
This week is filled with a variety of special activities! On Wednesday we will be having a traditional "Épluchette". This day was historically seen as a way to celebrate the time of harvest and our School Council will be providing a hot, buttery corn to each of our students. A king and queen, from each class, will be named that day (again a part of the the tradition). Wednesday is early dismissal and our School Spirit Day will be Crazy Hair Day. On Thursday we will be welcoming an Art Exhibition titled Creatures. This travelling exhibition is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and will consist of 19 works of art. On Friday we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a celebration lead by our 2/3 and 3BL students. For their service project they have decided to gather non perishable food for the Food Bank. Please send your donations anytime during the week. Hot lunch will also be that day.
Our ÉPK school team would like to extend our heartfelt blessings to you and yours on this Thanksgiving weekend. May the love of God enfold you.
Jacqueline

Buy Apples to Support the EPK Artist in Residence Program
EPK School Council uses fundraisers to support projects for the betterment of our students and school community. This year, we will hold a couple fundraisers to support an Artist in Residence to visit our students sometime in the spring!
What is an Artist in Residence Program?
The program invites an artist into the school to spend time with each class to teach their craft. An artist can be anyone within arts & drama. Painters, potters, actors, jugglers, mimes, cartoonists, dancers, ... the list is endless! Artists offer not only their talent to share, but a look into cultures and traditions.
