HELLO FALCON FAMILIES!
Let's talk about something fun: After School Enrichment! Lily says it better than me, so below is a message from her about our exciting fall program.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
Hi wonderful parents, teachers, and supporters of McNear students,
As we go into this new school year, everything is looking different, including after-school enrichment (ASE), but the need for activities and engagement after the school day ends still exists. For now, McNear has decided to offer clubs, instead of traditional ASE classes. We hope to offer a variety of enrichment activities to each age group that are free and virtual. The challenge with offering free clubs is that the club leaders will not get paid.
We are looking for volunteers to lead a club, whatever type of club you'd like! It can last just once or twice, or longer. The meetings have to happen outside of school hours and need to be hosted, at least for now, on Zoom (NO in person meetings, sorry).
TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
There are two structures we can do if folks are interested:
1. You lead it! Pick a topic, age group, date(s), make a plan, and let me know! Ideally, the club would start with 2-6 meetings, once a week. If you love it, you can always extend. I'll share whatever info you give me with families via the Facebook groups, McNear website, and school newsletter. I'll also help get you organized with zoom info. And then you lead your club from the comfort of your own home.
2. You lead ONE class! If you don't have the time/capacity/desire to manage a club on an ongoing basis, but have a great idea or two that you are eager to share, there could be space for you too! If I get enough interest, I'd love to have a weekly time (same every week so parents can count on it) for a club led by a different adult each meeting. How it would look, exactly, will be based on how many volunteers are interested, but for this you'd just lead once (or more if you wanted). The age range would be wider, but it could be divided into subject or grade level (or both?) You'd have to organize for your week, but then you'd be done! (ie could be a class for a weekly movement club TK-1, a weekly art and science club 1-3 or a 4-6 connection club - this is ALL theoretical!)
CLUB TOPICS
Club topics could be almost anything (points for no or simple, cheap, accessible materials).
Here are some ideas:
Science experiments
Art Projects
Dancing
Puppetry
Mindfulness
Yoga
Spanish
Comedy
Cultural club
Singing
Hair braiding
Friendship Bracelet Making
Drawing
Creative Writing
Book Club (Specific book or series?)
Backyard explorers
Magic
Card tricks
MATERIALS
I want to also acknowledge that many of you incredibly talented folks do this for your work and work is important and lacking right now. For now, McNear will not be managing money for the clubs or ASE, but if you are hosting a class either virtually OR in person outside of school, I can post it on the website and share it as a resource for families. To be clear, it cannot be a McNear sponsored club, but we want to try and help support you. Please provide me with all pertinent info so I can include it.
Thank you and please take care!
