PRINCIPAL NEWS
~~~~~
Greetings EES Families,
Spring has arrived and it is that time of the year where we really start to see student learning take off! It is an exciting time of the year for teachers to share student progress with families during conferences. As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow due to family conferences. Additionally, you will find a “Parent Input” letter in your child’s folder this afternoon (and will also receive it electronically) to provide us with your feedback around classroom placement considerations. Please complete either the hard copy or the electronic form you receive.
Enjoy the weekend and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
My Best,
Ashley
GUIDANCE NEWS
We are wrapping up our Kindness and Diversity Unit in guidance class. In our lessons we used books, videos, and art activities to help guide conversations about differences, race, and racism. Our goal was to help students understand what we can all do to be upstanders to racism, for ourselves and each other. The unit culminated in students creating signs to show they are upstanders and want a world that is kind and fair for all. Engaging in these conversations with children may feel unfamiliar. Yet having them helps our children make sense of their world and ways that we can all help change it for the better. Here are some of the resources that we used in this unit. You can also find them in the virtual school counseling office each week on Seesaw. As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions about your child’s social and emotional development, and how we can partner to support it!
