BCSD Special Education Update

April 2020

From Deborah Dormady - Director of Special Education

Dear Special Education community,

I hope that you are all safe and well. As you continue to adjust to a new daily routine, we recognize that each day requires you to navigate technology and develop new skills while managing the needs of your family. In an effort to minimize the number of places you need to look for resources and information, we have included many of the resources that our teachers and clinicians are using to support students each day. Also included is information the district has provided regarding the COVID-19 closure and recent NYSED guidance regarding the June Regents exams.

We hope you will join us next week for a series of 'virtual coffees'. We have included a Google Form for you to share your questions and/or indicate resources and topics you would like to hear more about. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can ensure you receive the invitation and code needed to join the coffee. The discussion will be translated and a Q&A will be posted on the district Special Education Website for future reference.

Despite the on-going uncertainty and challenges the extended closure creates each day, we are incredibly proud of the work our students continue to do daily. This certainly does not happen without your support. Thank you! The special education team will continue to work with you to support your individual child's needs. We look forward to connecting with you in the coming days whether in person, by phone or via email.

Wishing you all continued health and safety.
