The Marie Murphy Update
15 January 2021 Edition
Parent Preference Survey Closing Soon!
The survey linkered here was shared with parents in early January. It is a preference survey for families related to learning remotely or onsite from mid-February through the end of the year. If you have not done so already, please complete the survey, even if you know you want your child to learn remotely for the remainder of the year.
Feedback from this survey and from a survey provided to staff will help the Administration develop the schedule selection form that will be issued to families on February 1st. At that time, families can determine if they want their students to learn only remotely or onsite for the rest of the year.
Our final determinations about what onsite schedule will be offered will be based on what is healthy, safe related to COVID, and sustainable in terms of operations. Thank you for taking this preliminary survey outlining your preferences.
Please complete 1 survey for each student you have enrolled. The survey window closes on January 17 at 5 p.m.
Composition Projects End First Semester on a High Note!
Check out the 6th Grade Composition Gallery, featuring the Blues. This composition project highlighted skills gained in musical notation, rhythmic values, as well as in reading and writing notes on the treble clef. Students used these skills to compose melodies that fit into a standard blues accompaniment.
Check out the 7th Grade Composition Gallery. Students' pieces featured skills developed as sixth graders last year in notation. They built upon those skills by learning simple rules for composing melodies and how to write and analyze chord progressions in major and minor keys. Students then composed pieces in ternary (ABA) form.

The group is committed to providing a welcoming, safe, and brave setting to engage in difficult conversations around sensitive topics centered on identity, inclusivity, equity, action/education. CommunIDEE is inclusive to all races, ethnicities, sexual and gender identities, abilities, immigration status, and lived experiences.
