Mrs. Fisher's Minutes

Dear Parents,

It was downright frigid outside during morning bus duty. The winter temperatures have truly arrived, but the students are all wondering where the snow is.

This week was a busy week at AMS. It was so much fun going into classrooms during our Global Day of Play. Playing tic-tac-toe and many other non-electronic games. It was a wonderful afternoon!

We also had a wonderful assembly from LeadU where the students were able to play fun games and learn valuable life skills. Grades K - 1 focused on Communication and Feelings. Grade 3 - 4 students focused on Resiliency, Leadership, and Problem-Solving. Thank you to ASHA for supporting such a wonderful assembly for our students.

We ended our week with a spirit assembly focusing on safety. The students had a jam-packed week filled with learning and fun.

As a reminder, we started marking period three on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Marking period two report cards will be available on the Genesis Parent Portal at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Many students have been asking about Valentine’s Day cards. Students, if interested, will be able to distribute Valentine’s Day cards to their classmates. If your child would like to send their classmates a Valentine's card, please remember there must be a Valentine for every student in the class (including the teacher would be nice as well) and no food is allowed.

ASHA has been working with Dr. Becker to support our outdoor classroom, called Gutches Garden. Please consider volunteering to be a part of the AMS Outdoor Beautification Committee which will help to support and sustain Gutches Garden. Please see the attached flier, Outdoor Beautification Committee, for more information.

The 100th Day of School is fast approaching. Please see the attached flier, 100th Day Food Drive, with more details about AMS’s annual 100th Day Food Drive.

Although it will be in the single digits this weekend, summer is right around the corner. If you are looking for some hands-on science fun, see the attached flier about Camp Invention which will run during the last week of July.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

Sincerely,

Michele Fisher
