- Fri. Jan 22: BYOD to school (Our class filled up our Marble Jar and earned a whole-class reward! Yay! So after sharing ideas they voted on Bring Your Own Device to school. Requirements: 1. Parent permission to send the device to school 2. Only "school-appropriate" apps and games will be allowed. It's okay if some students don't have devices to bring. I'm sure there will be plenty to share and play with! (Device examples: tablets, Kindle, electronic games, laptop-if parent approves)

MATH
Continuing Module 3, Topic E with Division. Students will use arrays, area models, number bonds, and tape diagrams to show their understanding of division and interpreting remainders in real world problems. Some new vocabulary terms they'll be also introduced to:
- factor triangles: 3 numbers that create 2 multiplication & division equations
- 3,2,6 can produce: 2x3=6; 3x2=6; 6/3=2; 6/2=3
- prime numbers: numbers with factors that are only itself and 1 (ex: 5, 11, 13)
- composite numbers: numbers that have more than 2 factors

SOCIAL STUDIES
Students will continue to research an explorer to create a "fan deck" which will include a portrait, timeline, expedition route, and other important facts about the explorer.
Explorers to be researched: Sir Francis Drake, Sebastian Vizcaino, Hernando Cortez, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and Gaspar de Portola.
