SEPTA President's Message

Welcome back, and for our new families, welcome to Springfield. I am in my 8th year as a Springfield parent. Two of my kids are at the middle school, and my youngest is in 3rd grade. I started volunteering in the 1st grade classroom, reading with the students. I later became a homeroom parent and member of the SEPTA board. Whether you can volunteer in school, at events, or from home, it will make a difference in the lives of our students.

SEPTA publishes this newsletter monthly in an effort to keep our families informed of events going on at Springfield and within the school district. You will find dates of upcoming events, highlights from both SEPTA and school board meetings, and most importantly, pictures of our students working & learning here at school.

SEPTA has a lot of fun events planned for you and your family this year. Please attend our Information Night on Thursday, September 10 at 6-7:30pm in the gym to learn more about events and fundraisers occurring here at school as well as many clubs and activities available within the district. There are many opportunities for you to get involved. We look forward to working with you!

Please feel free to contact me at 610 346-1981 or at septa@palisadessd.org.

Principal's Corner

Welcome Back! It’s great to have all of our students back to school and see their smiling faces & hear their voices throughout the building. Students and teachers are getting to know each other and have spent the past week developing classroom procedures together.

We will continue to build character, promote leadership, and help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through our school-wide Positive Panther program, students will be recognized for displaying good character and making good choices. With your support, our goal is to create respectful, responsible students who are fair, honest, & kind, make good choices & achieve great things.

We’re off to a great start, and I look forward to a fantastic 2015–16 school year.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at sdavis@palisadessd.org or at 610-847-5131 ext. 6001 if you ever have any questions or concerns.

Meet the Teacher

“Meet the Teacher” day, August 26th made it a reality that summer was drawing to a close. It was a great 2 hours to get the kids ready for their school adventure this year. The school desks were decked out with books and name tags and students got a brief introduction for their new homes for the next 10 months. If you haven’t made it to a “Meet the Teacher” event, it really is worth attending to help make your child more relaxed about their first day without having the worries of meeting the teachers and finding their homeroom. Not to mention, its a lot of fun!!

Welcome our new staff!

School Vegetable Garden Update

The garden items planted by last year's 4th & 5th graders came to fruition over the summer! Pictures below show turnips & beets planted by last year's 4th graders. In addition, many tomatoes were gathered from the vegetable garden and will be served to our children in a soup lovingly prepared by the kitchen staff. Cucumbers were harvested, sliced & were enjoyed by students during lunch this week.
