Enrollment Update
Our enrollment has increased! We may have a new third grade student enrolling this week, which would split third grade into three sections. If this occurs, the new class will go into room 105 across from the teacher's lounge. If that happens, I will communicate a transition plan with parents and staff.
At grade 5, we are two students from adding another section. If this occurs, difficult decisions will be made. One possibility is to move gifted to room 130 or the band room, moving band to another location. Another possibility is moving ELL Resource to room 130 or the band room, moving band to another location. We will cross that bridge when we get there.

Learning Labs
We have 70 Lexia licenses and 50 Read Naturally online licenses. Lexia and Read Naturally also serve as two learning labs at Sipley. I would prefer that we wait until after F&P testing to assign students to Lexia or Read Naturally, thus learning labs for those two programs will begin in early October. If Lexia or Read Naturally is assigned to a student, the program must be used at least four days a week for at least twenty minutes and completed within the school year. Danielle will assist in assigning students to those licenses and the assignments will be based on needs of students.
There is also a math lab, which may begin after STAR Math assessments are given.
Staff to Do List
- Make sure that you are aware how each and every student is getting home.
- Send a hard copy of your schedule to me. Kim Oster, Melissa Odom, Angela Makowski, and Maureen Schroeder or Ryan Barba also need a copy.
- Begin working on your self-evaluation. Do not wait until the deadline as I will not be able to meet with everyone in the week the self-evaluations are due. Notify me when your self-evaluation is complete.
- Read chapters 1 and 2 of Changing the Attitude Gap.
- Prepare for Curriculum Night. Remember that we need parents to sign in at Curriculum Night. I will send a template to capture their signatures.
- Plan on ways that you will integrate aspects of Hispanic Heritage Month into your instruction during the month of September. Highlight this in your newsletter to parents.
- Enter Institute Days into My Learning Plan if you want credit for those PD hours.
- Wear your "You Make a Difference" t-shirt on Friday. Our staff picture will be taken at 7:50 on Friday.
