Welcome Back!!
I hope that everyone had a joyous Thanksgiving Break! I know that we only have a few more weeks until the Winter Holidays, however we still have a lot that needs to get done.
Dates to Remember
December 10, 12, 13 AWA Testing
December 10 - Christmas Concert 6:30pm @ HHS Mariner Theater
December 12 - Quarter 2 Character Trading Card Book Report due (directions have been sent home)
December 13 - Spelling Bee
December 20 - Winter Break Begins
Writing
This week in Writing we will practice skills that will encourage us to write to think. Students will be recording facts to grow ideas on their various paragraphs and use their awareness of timelines to contextualize dates. Students will then redraft their research reports adding both introductions and conclusions.
Science
We are continuing our study of light and lenses. Students have already discovered that light is made up of seven colors and why objects appear to be the colors that they are. This week we will continue our discovery of light and lenses by making Newtons Wheel.
Raid Your Junk Drawers!!!
Don't be surprised if your students suddenly start raiding your junk drawers. This week and next we will be making Bent Object Art. Mr. Panarelli will be guiding us through these lessons. Our goal is to team up with Mr. young's class and make a large "Ocean" display. I am also asking that students bring in one piece of junk that is holiday based, like a Christmas light, a bell, red or green beads...
