Part 2-Benchmark Data Conferences
For Part 1 of our Benchmark Data Conferences, we simply took time to go over the basics of the Case 21 Benchmark and look at proficiency rates as a school and as a grade level. We also took time to go over the basics of the Case 21 reports in order to determine how to identify which students were proficient and which students we could most likely move to proficiency by TN Ready.
As we look forward to Part 2 of our Benchmark Data Conferences, we plan to focus on the student GROWTH that can occur between now and TN Ready based on Benchmark B Data. By this time, you should have inputted all Benchmark A and B Data into your Personal Data Spreadsheet in your personal folder. Benchmark A would have been the first benchmark your students took for the year. Benchmark B will be the benchmark we just finished. Please make sure that you have taken time to log this data for Benchmark B. It will be very helpful in our work to target students who are not yet proficient, but whom we think we can move by the actual TN Ready test.
Since we were out of school during our weekly collaborative due to illness this week, please take time this week to look at the information, links and data on the linked Google Slides for your grade level. Study your Case 21 Data together as a department and individually so that we can have a working conversation regarding students and focus on the NOW WHAT piece on Monday, February 17th during our Grade Level Collaborative Data Conferences in light of Guiding Questions listed below. We completed Agenda Item 1 at our previous data conference. We will focus on the items 2-4 in our next meeting.
Agenda:
1. Examine the Data using Data at a Glance (Noticings and Wonderings)
2. Examine AMO Targets for JSMS School-Wide and by Grade Level for each Subject and Subgroup
3. Examine the Item Analysis and Develop a Remediation Plan (Here’s What, So What, Now What)
1. Intentional Spiral Reviews
2. Using test questions for starters
3. Homework
4. Examine Students by Name-Road to Proficiency-Use JSMS AMO Spreadsheet
JSMS AMO Spreadsheet - In addition to the AMO percentage, this spreadsheet identifies the number of students needed in each grade level by each subject to meet the AMO.
· How many students in your grade level need to be proficient in order for your grade level to meet it’s AMO (for your department)?
· Currently, how many MORE students do we need to move to proficiency in your grade level to meet your grade level AMO for your subject?
· Looking at your individual class rosters, how many students would be proficient if we moved ALL students currently at a 2+ toa 3 and maintained all students currently at a 3.
· Considering whom we are targeting for Literacy/Math Blast, do we have enough space to serve targeted students needed to meet our AMO
· A Look at Subgroups-Who is proficienct? Who CAN be proficient?

The work we do that digs down to the student level is the work that is encouraging and inspiring! Data always has a face and when we work to the student level, this work becomes far more manageable and meaningful!
Calling all ELA Teachers!
Our next ELA symposium will take place on Monday, February 17, from 3:15-4:45. We will switch our location upstairs to the TN room. Rather than read through two additional chapters for Monday, I am adjusting the plan so that you will have time to review textbook materials as a group. Each teacher must complete a rubric for each textbook company by March 18. I know that this is difficult to do during the day, so I am adjusting the Symposium schedule to allow you to have time to review together. Please bring your laptop, because some of the materials are primarily available online.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hearts for the House
This month, specifically between February 4th and 14th, the Student Council will be participating in a fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House. We will be selling hearts to students and faculty, for $1. With each heart purchased, students will receive a heart stamp, and have their names entered into a drawing for a McDonald's gift certificate. All proceeds of this fundraiser will go to The Ronald McDonald House to support families in need. We will be hanging posters this week and will start sales before school and during lunch. Thank you for your support and helping our kids think outside themselves.
Coffee Cart-Feel Good Friday
Feel Good Friday just keeps getting better! Stephen Baker had the awesome idea to start up a coffee cart for the Warrior Academy kiddos and the FA-3 kiddos to run together on Friday mornings. The cost will be $1.00 per cup, and we have creamers and sweeteners as well!
The funds will just replenish the cart from week to week, but the personal interaction and functional skills the kids are going to learn from this will be invaluable! I am looking forward to watching them grow throughout the year and build relationships with you all through this venture!
I have included the Google Sheet that we will use each week to fill orders. There is a cell for your name, classroom number for 1st period assignments, type of drink, and if you need a disposable cup, or if you'll have your own mug for us to make it in!
Thank you all in advance for your support of this fun idea, and to Baker for getting it all together. I love our big Warrior Tribe!
Thanks again!
Baker and Megan

Thank you to all who have sent in Valentines for the Veterans!
Together we have assembled heart envelopes for each of the 80 VA Nursing home residents!
Each envelope has at least two Valentines day cards and several pieces of chocolate.
I am so proud of our students for helping make someone's day a little brighter and the cards they made were so beautiful and heartfelt.
Thank You All!
If you still have cards don't worry, I will be accepting them until I leave today. Just put them in my mailbox, drop them off by my office or let me know if you need class pickup.
Please congratulate these students for making the golf team!
