Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, families! We are so excited about things coming up next week! Monday, is a staff development day. It's time we spend annually to celebrate the years of service of staff members that have been with the district for 5, 10, 15 years and beyond! We are so grateful for the dedication they have given to our district, staff, and students! The larger portion of our day is spent continuing to grow as a staff. We focus on nurturing a positive culture of learning, growing, and laughing together. We spend time diving into many types of campus data to identify areas that are going well and areas where we can improve. Then we develop specific action steps to ensure that improvement. All the feedback you provided in the survey will be looked at and analyzed to aid in our planning.
Tuesday night from 5:30-6:30 is our Open House! This is a come and go event where your child can show you around their classroom and share some of their work with you. You can also check out our wonderful library where will we have our Spring Book Fair open for shopping! Please keep in mind, we will be closing up the building at 6:30, so come early enough to give yourself time to walk around and see everything you'd like. We look forward to sharing with you and we hope everyone is able to make it!

I Want to Hear From YOU!
Many of you have posted comments, suggestions or questions on my Parent Padlet. Thank you! It is one of the ways for me to stay connected with you and allows other parents to see your questions. You never know when someone else is wondering the same thing. The cool thing is that it is completely anonymous! So post away and I will be sure to respond.
Just click on this link and you're on your way!

Please remember that the back loop of our school is for buses only!! When cars drive through, our buses cannot load or unload or move. It also creates a safety for students and staff that are back there. Keep all cars in the front and side loops only. Thank you so much!
The Counselor's Corner
When I sit down to speak with parents about concerns the topic I hear most often is trouble with discipline and behavior. It’s important to discuss what discipline strategies have been practiced and which ones have been successful. Often, redirection, natural consequences, and reward systems work. Helping families to communicate about feelings and helping children feel understood also provides the desired behavior.
Parenting and child-rearing is about preparing children for the real world. In Blessings of a Skinned Knee by Wendy Mogul, Ph.D., the author points out raising children is not about helping them to feel good in life; it’s raising them to make good decisions. Kids who grow up to be successful people go through personal failures, mistakes, and persevere. They gain success because others were there to encourage and guide them to continue to work hard. If you feel that your child is guiding you to make changes in your life and give in to their wants often, it may be a good time to reflect on what your goals are as a family and what you want for your children in the future. Giving in to immediate wants will likely not support their desire to reach long term goals in the future.
