Creating Opportunities Together.....Apart
A Thought or Two From Mr. Nieslanik
Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year! I know we are stepping into not only a new school. year, but a brand new learning experience for all of us, Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL). This fall will be like none we have ever experienced, but with this said, I am getting excited. I love school, and I am ready to jump into the school year with all of my energy and might. Even though I will not interact with students in classrooms, the hallways, on the field, in the gym, or on the stage I will be connecting with students via social media, Canvas announcements, and periodic emails. I can also feel the energy beginning to pick up with our staff. They are beginning to lean back into the school year and return to work today, and I look forward to seeing them, for I have not seen many staff since March. I only say this because our faculty can choose to instruct from their classrooms this fall. As we all begin to focus on school I ask that everyone in Skyhawk Nation lean into this school year. I ask us all to partner together, expect the best, and push our young scholars to be the best they can be. For it is true, as our mission states, we will "Create Opportunities Together" even though we are apart.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at David_Nieslanik@beaverton.k12.or.us.
Parent Information Sessions--September 1, 2 and 3
The administrative team will hold Parent Information Meetings via Zoom on Tuesday, September 1, Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00-7:00 each evening. If you have questions or need additional information about CDL, the 4x4 instructional model, or the school year, please join us. Due to security, a zoom link will be sent via School Messenger during the day on September 1st to all SRHS parents and guardians. We ask that you do not share this with anyone else. Thank you for understanding.
The Parent Information on September 2nd will have Spanish Interpretation available.
Flight Days--September 8 and 9
Our annual Flight Days will be held on September 8th and 9th at SRHS. We ask that you make every effort to have your child attend. We ask that you attend during the times below, enter SRHS at the stoplight on 125th, follow signage, stay in your car, and wear a mask!
Student Schedules
As of this newsletter, student schedules are not finalized. We hope to have them live within Studentvue by the end of this week. We cannot promise that they will be live at that point, but will do our very best to have them uploaded into the student information system. Do know that we are working hard to finalize the schedules, to get them into student hands as quickly as possible.
It is important to also know that once schedules are finalized there will be VERY limited movement of periods. The schedule is tight and the only class changes that will be made will be to change levels or fill empty periods. We will not be making other changes to the schedule. This is because of both attendance team and cohort requirements given to us as we create a schedule that can both function in CDL and in person.
