News and Notes
** IMPORTANT: Please remember the best way to contact me is by email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
**A big thanks to our UWE PTA for the new soccer goals outside. These were purchased for students to use at recess with all the money UWE families helped to raise with fundraisers like the Fun Run and cookie dough sales. Thanks to everyone and we look forward to students enjoying them soon.
**MAP testing is quickly approaching in April. Third grade will test the last week of April and first week of May.
**Parents, if your students leave any items at home and you need to drop them off at school, they need to come before 9:30 a.m. If it is after that, they will not come to the classroom. Instead, they will go in my mailbox and I may not be able to pick them up until my plan time at the end of the day.
**Starting in January, students will only be able to check out a chromebook from the school one time per quarter. After the one time, if they do not have their chromebook or it is not charged, they will have to complete work on paper or do it the following day. Please help your child remember to fully charge chromebooks at night and get them to school each day.
** One productive way to utilize chromebooks at home would be to do some extra math fact practice. Some great websites or apps that students know about are XtraMath, Monster Math, and Math Magician. Don't forget to visit our new math program, TenMarks, also.
** For fourth quarter, students need to turn in all remaining book reports. The last day turn in all book reports will be May 13th. Remember the expectation is 11 fiction and 5 nonfiction for the year. Also, students should be writing down reading minutes each week. The third grade expectation is 100 minutes a week or 400 minutes a month. I will check them at the end of each month. Please write reading minutes on the monthly calendars in their planners.
**Don't forget to sign or initial your child's planner each night. The planner, take home folder, and a charged Chromebook should be coming to school every day.
**From The Cafeteria.... If your child owes more than $5.00 for lunch charges, they will have to get a cheese sandwich that day. Thanks for your help and checking your student's lunch account.
