Comet Connection

CHS School Counseling

Greetings Comets!

In order to keep our Catonsville students and families up to date on important information from the School Counseling office while we are in remote learning, we have decided to make our newsletter bi-weekly! Remember, we are here to help you during this time. Counselors can be reached via email or Schoology message, and are available for virtual meetings (email, phone, or Google Meet) during our daily office hours. Keep up the great work!

Celebrating Our Seniors

We know that this class is doing incredible things and we want to celebrate ALL of you! Did you know the Class of 2020 has been accepted to over 120 different colleges and been award about 4.5 million dollars in scholarships? Pretty awesome, right?? Considering that we have only received college acceptance and scholarship award letters from about 25% of our seniors, we know that the numbers are actually A LOT higher.

While we are not physically in school, we still want to share your achievements with the Catonsville community! The School Counseling office is working with your teachers and administrators to plan a celebration for you!

If you have not sent your decision letters to Ms. Weston (lweston@bcps.org), please do so as soon as possible. We are accepting scans, pictures, and emailed decisions. We don’t want anyone to be left out, so make sure that your outstanding achievements get recognized!

6 Year Plan Meetings

Throughout the year, each Catonsville High School student holds a 1-on-1 meeting with their School Counselor to review/update their 6 Year Plan and course requests (if applicable). This process starts by identifying the student’s unique interests and aspirations, and includes a collaborative review of their personal goals to ensure that they are set up for a timely graduation and post-secondary success. CHS Counselors will continue to hold these invaluable conferences (via Phone or Google Meet) with any students that have not already done so in person.

If you have not met with your counselor to review your 6YP and 2020-2021 course requests, please complete and submit this form (https://forms.gle/5MGnEZ92DbHjAzsj6).

Once received, your counselor will reach out (via Schoology message or email) to confirm the date/time of your meeting.
