Mediation Techniques for Producers (and Everyone)
Did you survive the festival season without too much bloodshed? Are you gearing up to enter the fray once more? It is often a producer's job to mediate creative disputes, and you will need the skills to negotiate these disagreements. Many artists will find themselves self-producing and having to embark on sensitive relationships with directors and others. This eye-opening workshop will offer techniques for communicating effectively and productively as you forge artistic alliances, as well as offer guidance and clues about finding colleagues who will work collaboratively.
• The director has notes on the script, and the writer is resisting the notes because (s)he is concerned about protecting the integrity of the piece. How does a producer resolve these differences and get on with the show?
• Two writers who are collaborating on a project are having trouble working together because they cannot agree on a common approach to the material. Should the producer step in, or walk away?
