Principal's Message

It's hard to believe it's almost the middle of December. With winter comes some cold days, particularly in the morning. Please remember to make sure students have a sweatshirt or jacket for morning recess times. Also, because it gets warmer in the afternoon students take off jackets and often leave them on the playground. Please check the lost and found regularly! All items left in lost and found next Thursday, Dec. 20th will be donated to charity.

We are finishing out the year with Participation as our characteristic of the month. At our last assembly we discussed all the different ways students can participate at school. For example, raising your hand to offer an answer in class, speaking up in group work, taking a risk and playing a new game at recess or even dressing up on Friday Spirit Day. Encourage your child to Participate in a new way during these last few days of the calendar year!

Speaking of participation, we have several fun activities and events happening in these last few days before the holiday.

  • Tonight is the December SPC meeting in the MPR at 6:30. Child care is provided.

  • Friday (Tomorrow) our student council is encouraging all students to take part in spirit day. Students can show their Sequoia spirit by wearing green or their favorite ugly holiday sweater!

  • Friday night (Tomorrow) is a SPC sponsored movie night featuring Incredibles 2. Doors open at 5:30, movie begins at 6:00. Pizza and snacks available for purchase. Remember this is a family event so plan to stay with your child to watch the movie. Feel free to bring low sitting chairs, sleeping bags, blankets or pillows. Hope to see you there!

  • Next week there are two band and orchestra concerts where you can see our student musicians shine, more details below!

Have a good week!
