Traditions, Celebrations, Summer Camps and More!
A Note from Principal Kevin
Good Evening Laurel Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well, rested and ready for the last two weeks of the school year. It was wonderful to see some many of you at the Picnic on the Playground! We are excited to be planning more events like that for the fall and bring back cherished traditions to Laurel.
We've been busy with end of year assessments, field trips and projects. Our 3rd and 4th graders completed state assessments, 4th graders are preparing for the transition to Oaklea in the September and and we've got a kindergarten boom happening with families enrolling for the fall.
I know that spring sports are in full swing and it is great to see all our fields full of kids and families on these beautiful spring evenings.
Please read below for some news you can use and watch for communications form your child's teacher about other end of the year activities.
Summer Camp and Support Opportunities
With Summer Break right around the corner, you might think it is too late to be thinking about summer camp and enrichment opportunities for your kiddos. It is NOT! Many of the programs referenced below are still enrolling and some have scholarship resources for families facing challenging situations.
Direction Service is a multi-program family support organization that has helped people with special needs, and their families, live their lives to the fullest since 1976. Their comprehensive directory, attached below, has resources for families including camps, diagnostic and treatment services, recreation programs and respite care and support.
Also below is a list of camps from Oregon Family Magazine. This list includes sports, science, performing arts and nature camps for all ages.
