Who was Edgar Allan Poe?
- Poe brings to mind images of murders and mad men. His work has been printed since 1827. He was the second out of three children. Poe was born in Boston on January 19,1809. Poe once became so poor that he burned his own furniture to keep warm.
What was his childhood like?
After his mothers death, Edgar was taken to another family. Later he started writing at 13 about death and puzzled stories to scare readers. He childhood was not so great it had really low downs and he never seemed to be happy.
How big a part of his life was filled with sickness and death?
Edgar saw himself as a curse to women , his birth mother died of TB, later he was taken by a new family, the new mother also died of TB. Poe's wife who he married when she was just 13 years old. She became sick of TB and died age 27. He always blamed himself for the deaths of his loved ones.
