Re-Envision Update
May 13, 2019
Greetings Bryant/Pattengill Families,
We are having a joyous time at school with so many school events (Spring Sing, International Festival, Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day) bringing us together! We are also looking forward to our annual Ice Cream Social held at Pattengill on Friday, May 17th, 6:00-8:30 p.m. Thank you to our amazing PTO for organizing this community event!
Last week our gracious PTO organized a showering of love to demonstrate how much they appreciate our fantastic teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation week. We are honored that you took the time to celebrate us in the midst of your busy lives outside of school. The words of affirmation, breakfast, lunch, sweet treats and flowers from you and your kiddos really filled our hearts, and we are SO grateful for each and every one of you.
We are delighted to share that our recommendations for IB or STEAM/PBL have been delivered to the superintendent and we look forward to hearing a decision soon. It is an exciting time! We look forward to a year of planning in the 2019-2020 school year and full implementation in 2020-2021 school year. We are delighted to share that in collaboration with our community, equity will be at the heart of every part of our planning and implementation.
We are particularly enthusiastic about the addition of quality instructional programming as well as a robust and student centered investment in social emotional learning. The Responsive Classroom approach unites our staff in our approach to ensure that each child feels valued and significant on our learning environment. Inclusive language and for addressing the whole child (social, emotional and academic needs) we will have the opportunity to intentionally focus on five different competencies which include self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relational skills and responsible decision-making. Addressing all of these key skills, will help us to create a joyful, positive learning environment for our students and help us to build an even stronger commUNITY. We desire for our students to develop important soft skills like empathy, persistence, to build a rigorous school environment grounded in joy, equity, and love. We will be back in touch before the end of the year to share important updates with you.
Over the summer, Bryant and Pattengill will receive a number of physical enhancements. This modernization will happen over the summer to be completed for the start of the 19-20 school year Click here for the physical enhancements. At Bryant, the entryway, atrium and library will be totally different with creative enhancements such as a stimulating learning lab where our students can build, create and explore. At Pattengill, the entryway and childcare room will be transformed to a community learning space where our students can experiment and design! You will be amazed!
At the heart of all of our hard work is continuing to ensure that we provide our students an equitable, high-quality, optimal learning environment so we may carry out our mission to inspire every student, to think, to learn and to care.
Have a lovely week,
Melita
