Dear Midland Families,
Thank you to those who attended the virtual meet and greet on Thursday night and apologies to those who tried and could not log in. We had over 100 families come and go through the evening and it was great to get connected.
This is the big week! School begins on Tuesday, August 31st for grades 1-5 and kindergarten students should have received a call from their teacher with their assigned day and conference time. Students can ride the bus or be dropped off between 8:40-8:50 each day. Pick up time is 3:25. Midland does provide breakfast and lunch for all students for no cost, however, you are also welcome to send a home lunch with your child if you prefer. You may not know that our district is providing supplies for all students this year. All your child needs is a backpack and perhaps a folder. If your child brings their own supplies, that's fine, but it is not required this year.
Most importantly, our COVID protocols will be important to keep all students and staff safe this year. You will be required to keep your child home if they have been exposed to a positive case of COVID, if they have a fever of 100 degrees or higher, or if they are experiencing coughs and symptoms that are not related to any other documented illness. Please do your part by not sending your child to school if they may be sick. Our staff has been trained on our social distance procedures, cleaning, and mask protocols. All students and staff will need to wear a mask each day for both time inside and outside. You may send a spare mask in your child's backpack, if you would like. We are looking forward to keeping Midland as safe as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our school nurse, Patti Thomas, if you have questions.
We are very excited to be welcoming our whole school community back for the first time in over 18 months! Get good sleep and rest up. We will have a great school year together.
I welcome your communication. Please call or email me to share your celebrations or concerns at (253)298-4501 or pdawson@fpschools.org
It's great to be a MUSTANG!
~Dr. Paula Dawson

Healthy and Safe practices at Midland
Just a reminder of the things that we'd like you to consider before sending your child to school each day:
- A temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or above?
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Chills
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
These are some safety precautions we will be practicing at Midland:
- Students will be required to wear a mask on the bus, in the halls, in class, and at recess.
- Students will wash hands and use hand sanitizer throughout the day.
- Students will sit 3 feet apart in the classroom, and 6 feet apart during breakfast & lunch.
If your child has been exposed to COVID, or if they are showing symptoms of illness, you may not send them to school until they have been quarantined and symptom free for 14 days. Teachers will provide work for students during this time. We are counting on everyone to keep Midland safe for all students and staff. Thank you!
