Welcome Back! Sept 2021
Somos Familia... I belong, You belong, We belong
From the Principal
Dear Highland Families,
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year. I hope this message finds you well. Student and staff safety continues to be at the forefront of our plans to reopen schools for 5 full days of instruction for all students.
While at school, it is mandatory that all staff and students grades K-5 wear a mask throughout the day, except while eating or drinking. I know working together, we will have the highest chance of getting back to normal and staying in school. Below you will find additional information about our reopening plans along with additional details about the start of the year.
Warmly,Beth Fraze, Principal

Meet the Teacher
First Day of Classes- Tuesday Sept 7th
For students in grades 1-5, school will start on Tuesday, September 7th. Students can arrive on campus at 8:15 and will be directed to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to the gym to wait with their classmates until 8:30. Parents will not be permitted to enter the building at arrival. School will dismiss at 3:05.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten students will start the week of September 7-10 in a gradual entry model. Students will attend one day during that week for a few hours. You will receive additional information about this from the kindergarten teachers later this week.
The first full day of school for all kindergarten students will be on Monday, September 13th.
School Supplies
We did receive a very generous donation of backpacks so if your child needs one, please let the office or your child's teacher know and we will make sure they get one!
Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students
Bus Schedules
Parent Vue- Parent Portal
To help their children get the most out of school, parents want day-to-day insight into the academic experience. With the Synergy ParentVUE web portal, parents can access near real-time information on attendance, bus information, class placement, and more.
DO I HAVE TO SIGN IN AT EACH SCHOOL IF I HAVE A CHILD IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ANOTHER IN HIGH SCHOOL? ParentVUE offers a single sign-on to view school information for all of the siblings, regardless of the grade level or school of attendance.
IS THERE A WAY TO CONTACT THE TEACHER OR COUNSELOR IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT WHAT I SEE ON THE SCREEN?
Easy access to communication tools throughout the various ParentVUE screens promotes the contact between home and school that is necessary for student success.
IS MY CHILDREN'S SCHOOL INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO ANYONE ON THE INTERNET?
While the website is accessible over the Internet, access is secured via a user name and password. Parents can see information about their children, only, and cannot see the records of other students.
Visitors and Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer once we are able to bring volunteers back in the building, please complete the application now as it generally takes a few weeks to process. You can use the link below to complete the form.
Student Pick-up and Drop off
We ask for your continued patience as we have not really had all of our students at pick up and drop off in almost two years. We will adjust and learn as we go. We appreciate that you are flexible and understanding of our learning curve.
- Families, please pull all the way up to the front of the front parking lot. There will be signs indicating where to stop.
- For the safety of your child please seat them on the passenger side of the vehicle, not the driver side. We have multiple moving parts during drop-off and dismissal-we want to keep our students as safe as possible.
- Please do not pull in and park in the area with the buses as you will not be able to pull out of your spot in that lot until all buses have exited the lot.
Office News
Here at Highland, we take student safety very seriously.
Please review the following expectations:
1. Any change in student release must be done before 2:45 PM.
2. Anyone different picking up a student will need to bring and show their ID.
3. Be aware, we will not pull students off the bus once they are on. You will need to drive to their stop and pick them up there.
