Principal Corner- Many things happening this week-

Student conferences are coming soon! Watch for important sign-up information from classroom teachers this week. Teachers work two long days to fit in conferences. Would you like to sponsor a meal for a teacher? If so, click the image and sign up today through the PTA store. We appreciate the support.
Picture day is Thursday!!! Order online or complete the forms that we sent home.
We will watch the Har-Ber Homecoming Parade on Thursday. Ask your child about it!

Have you noticed the construction? We are getting pavement for a "Gaga game pit" as well as the pavement under our picnic tables and the bike racks. We are so excited! Please excuse the mess. We have moved some picnic tables so you can have lunch with your child outside.

PTA Update

Yearbooks can be ordered! Yearbooks are currently $21, but the price will increase in November so order today at the PTA store.

Do we have any 2nd-3rd Graders interested in Robotics Club?

Does your child love to build robots, program and code? We might have an opportunity for them to grow those skills. We are offering a six-week robotic club for 2nd and 3rd grade students. Due to a continuing curriculum, it would be important that your child commits to ALL six sessions. See specific dates/times in the google form sign-up here.

There is limited space because of materials, so please sign up as soon as possible. It will be a first-come, first-serve opportunity. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Stubbs (5th grade) at rhickman1@sdale.org.

Meal Forms

Free/Reduced Lunch forms are due back by Friday, September 24th. Even though students are getting free breakfast and lunch through the USDA this year, these forms help our district gain access to hundreds of services for all students. Did you know that the law only requires one nurse per district? That would be 1 nurse for 21,000 kids! I know I am personally thankful that each school has a full-time nurse. Also, SROs and student technology devices are funded through this program. If you think you might qualify, please fill the form out online or call the office to get a form sent home!

Notes from the counselor- Character Word of the Month- Kindness

For the month of September, we are focusing on the character word, kindness. Kindness means being friendly to others. At the end of the month each teacher, K-5, will choose one student who showed the most growth in kindness. That student will receive an award and a prize for being a good role model.

Practice it!

Spend time writing encouraging notes to people in your community. This could be neighbors, policemen, teachers, anyone! Have your child go with you to deliver the notes of kindness.

Talk About it!

Here are some discussion points to help you talk about kindness with your child:

Tell me about a time when someone was kind to you. How did it make you feel?

What are ways you can be kind to people at home, at school and in the community.
