Our Collective Commitment Corner
Thank you all for your engagement in our Lesson Study protocol this past week! Bringing defined efforts to our cross-curricular teams through this Lesson Study protocol is exactly what will propel us to realize our collective efficacy.
One of the take-aways I realized myself through this process came from a Tuesday group who caused me to consider the extent to which my instructional practices make it to the dinner table. Those “dinner table conversations,” once the students have left the walls of our school, are indeed what we hope for as we impact our students’ learning and their lives in general.
As I’m getting to know our amazing PCHS students, I am reminded of a recent conversation with one of our juniors. What she shared with me was that she talks to her mom about how much she appreciates the conversations we have and “the way that I talk to all of them.” Those are the moments that truly reward us in our profession! What I had intended as a simple one-on-one conference paid off in ways I hadn’t considered!
Yes, we realize the rich benefits of conferring with those teaching points transferring to practice. What we must embrace, too, is the power of relationships nurtured through conferring. Let’s have a great week of celebrating our students, each other, and ourselves, and let’s all endeavor to be a part of our families’ dinner table conversations!

Field Trip Reminders
1) Field trip approval forms are now electronic. The link is on the PCHS Forms Home Drive Field Trip Request Form. You will be notified by email of approval/denial of the field trip.
2) We have added a calendar to overlay on your google calendar and Master Calendar, PCHS Field Trips.
This will enable all staff to see when there is a field trip planned/approved. The office staff will place all approved Field trips in this calendar so all staff will be able to see when students will be out.
Also, please remember, if you are leaving from PCHS please have the bus and students meet you in the South Athletic Office Commons, not the welcome center.

Donate Old Toys to LMC for TeenTober - Frankentoy Fest!
October is TeenTober month in the library world and, to celebrate the month, we are planning some programming and activities for our students. Our culminating celebration will be a Frankentoy Fest on October 31st. There will be first, second and third place winners recognized for the creativity of their "re-designed and re-engineered" toys.
If you would be willing to donate toys or toy parts to the cause, please bring in your stash to the library office these first couple of weeks of October. That will give students who want to participate time to assemble their mutant creations for the festival. It probably goes without saying but...just in case...you will not be getting any of these toys back. If you have any further questions or need any clarifications about this project, please feel free to contact any of us in the library.
