Ring Leader Tidbits
~Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful spring break and were able to spend time with family and friends! We are jumping back into the busy season, with testing right around the corner, so spring fever is DEFINITELY here!
~ Congratulations to our campus award winners!! You are all SO deserving of this recognition!
Teacher of the Year: Vickie Walker
Professional of the Year: Ashley Fields
Para of the Year: Ronda Kessler
Auxiliary of the Year: Olga Hinojosa
~ We have a few announcements to share, as we start the spring season:
* Brandy Joyner has turned in her two weeks notice, as she needs to stay at home for the remainder of the year for personal reasons. The district will be sending their managers in training to fill in (for 2 week intervals) for the remainder of the year, and they will hire a full time manager once they get to the summer. We wish Brandy all the best, and she will definitely be missed!
* We received an email earlier today letting us know that Macie Kerbs (writing specialist) will not be back next year. She has accepted a position with Sam Houston State University to become a faculty member there. Those of you who have worked with Macie know how knowledgeable she is in the area of writing, and we wish her the best as she makes the transition to Houston and to the college level of instruction.
~ This year, Melanie is collaborating with Boosterthon for our main fundraiser! We are VERY excited to bring Boosterthon to Elkins, and we hope it's a great success. An email went out today to parents and staff that lets you know the dates and a little about the run! We are doing this INSTEAD of the color run, this year, so we are hoping to have it be a great success! Encourage your students to get involved! The proceeds from the run will go towards the purchase of additional playground equipment!
~ Please get me the Elk of the Month forms, so we can hang the current ones up! Before you know it, March will be over, so we want to make sure these students have a chance to have their pages hung!
~HR has begun the process of searching for the new principal for next year. The survey link was emailed out today and is due by tomorrow! It's a quick turnaround time, so I encourage you to complete that as soon as you can. They really do want your input as to who they bring in for your next principal. It's definitely a bittersweet decision to leave, but I know the district will find the PERFECT fit for Elkins!
School Bulletin
~ This is a busy week! UIL starts tomorrow (Tuesday) with some of the events and will continue on Saturday! Thank you to everyone who is helping out on these days and again, a HUGE shout out to Rebecca for organizing our UIL teams for this year!
~ Seussical is THIS Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Creekview! We are SO excited to watch our kiddos shine as they present their musical! Shout out to Vickie for working SO hard to organize this event for our students!
~ Please let me know when you would be available to meet for our SLO checkpoint meetings. If we have not met, I do need to meet with each grade level before the end of next week. Please let me know when your team will be available to PLC and discuss progress.
~ STAAR testing is in 3 weeks. Remember, the days of STAAR testing, there are no visitors on campus. The remaining days will be determined that week after we know how many makeup tests we will have. I would start letting parents know now, since we do have several who come to eat every day.
