Welcome Back Pirates!
We believe in creating an open avenue for communication between school and home. The Barry News is only one of these avenues. We also have a Facebook page, Twitter account, and school website that will be frequently updated throughout the school year. Please access these sites to keep in touch with all of the news and events taking place at Barry.
We have so much to look forward to this year! We will use this newsletter to share our building focus areas, goals, and progress throughout the year.
One to One Learning Initiative
In June, the Board of Education approved the Chromebook lease expanding our one-to-one technology program to grades 6-8 for the upcoming 2017-18 school year. PCHS students went "one-to-one" starting with the 2016-17 school year.
This program puts a Chromebook in the hands of each student, and is part of the District's technology plan to increase the computer-to-student ratio, allowing more opportunities for students to work with digital devices and expand their learning beyond the four walls of our schools. We envision students using their devices to keep organized, manage their work, communicate, collaborate, and be creative.
As we get closer to the start of the school year, more information will be provided to middle school families. Middle school students will receive their devices during Pirate Time. Pirate Time teachers will cover digital citizenship, proper care, insurance, and troubleshooting with students. Click here for answers to other frequently asked questions.

Car Rider and Bus Procedures
Please enter the parking lot using the west entrance at the front of the building. Make your way around the flag pole and drop students off along the side walk. Teachers will be on duty to help guide cars and students. A bike and walking lane have been added to the car rider lane. Please stay clear of the 7 foot area marked by a yellow line during arrival and dismissal. Do not drop students off at the front doors. Students will enter the school through the doors directly west of the main entry.
Bus Riders
Buses will drop students off at the doors on the east side of the building. Buses will use the east parking lot entrance at the front of the building. Please stay clear of the bus rider area during arrival and dismissal.
Student Handbook/Planner/ID
Please check your child's planner on a regular basis. Student progress regarding Pirate Privileges is recorded every week in the student planner. Students are required to have their planner with them every day for every class. If a student loses their planner, the replacement cost is $5.
Students are required to have their student ID with them at all times. If a student loses their ID, the replacement cost is $5.

We are looking forward to this exceptional occurrence and our staff has been working diligently to create a fun and exciting day of learning for our students.
