Message from the Principal / Mensaje de la directora
The school year is off to a great start!
Thank you for sending your child with a water bottle on days that the afternoon temperatures reach 80 degrees or higher. Our students play hard during recess and PE and need to stay hydrated. It looks as if the outside temperatures may cool down over the next 10 days, but please let me know if your child needs a water bottle and I will make sure that he/she gets one.
The Falcon Fun Run helped to make this past week extra special for our students! A huge shout out and thank you to the parents who volunteered their time on Thursday to help set up, count laps, encourage students to do their best, and be an extra smile when the students finished the Run. On behalf of my staff, thank you for the money donations you helped your child collect. The money earned during this fundraiser helps to pay for our students' favorite things about school. As a reminder, donations will be accepted for prizes through September 14th. Direct link to donate: http://app.memberhub.gives/2022falconfunrun
This Thursday, 9/15, is our first Student Birthday Celebration! I am looking forward to eating lunch with the students who were born in August and September during their regular scheduled lunch time. We will be eating together on the stage overlooking the cafeteria. Thank you to the PTA for providing the decorations for our monthly Student Birthday Celebrations! Be on the lookout in next week’s newsletter for fun photos of this experience.
I also want to thank each of you for partnering with me and my staff to celebrate your child’s commitment to demonstrate safe, responsible, and respectful behavior. The acts of kindness observed between students this school year has put a smile on my face each and every day! I invite every adult connected to Parley’s Park to join our students’ effort to treat each other with kindness, assume goodwill, and look for ways to help one another and build each other up. :)
My door is always open to you as I welcome feedback, celebrations, and questions around school wide policies and procedures.
Warm regards,
Kim Howe, Principal
Parley’s Park Elementary
Kim Howe, Directora

Lost & Found Reminder / Recordatorio de objetos perdidos y encontrados
ATTENTION PARENTS:
Please write your child's names in their clothes (especially hoodies, jackets & snow pants). In looking at our current lost & found racks today, only about 5% of the items have names on them. It would help our staff get items back to the appropriate student if first and last names were on clothing, water bottles, lunchboxes, etc.

PPES SCC Parent Positions Filled
SCC News
We are pleased to announce that we had the exact number of parents submit nominations that we had open positions. Because of this, we do not need to conduct a SCC election but instead formally welcome the candidates to the Parley's Park School Community Council (SCC). Please join me in welcoming Iris Barlett, Jess Bost, and Tony Molchan to the Parleys' Park School Community Council. Read below to learn a more about our newest SCC parent members.
Iris Barlett
Bio: I'm a Hispanic, first-generation college graduate. I graduated college while I was a single mother. It wasn't easy, but I was determined to get my degree. I have applied that never-give-up spirit to everything in my life. Which allows me to focus on solutions and not problems. I am a dedicated worker who makes sure to complete the tasks required of me and take on other responsibilities to help whenever needed. Seven years ago my husband and two younger boys moved from Boston to Utah without ever visiting the state first. For many people, that idea would be scary but I loved the adventure of it. So when I'm not at work, I like to spend time exploring this beautiful state with my family. We like to hike, mountain bike, and snowboard. I'm also into Pilates.
Jess Bost
Bio: Hi! I'm Jess. I was on the SCC for the past two years and just can't get enough (LOL). My sons are in 2nd and 4th grade and love soccer, karate, swimming and skiing. My husband (Matt) and I are self-employed and stay busy by driving the kiddos to said activities. But really, we love Park City and all it offers. I would be happy to serve on the SCC for another term. My intention for the SCC was to provide funding and supplies to our interventionists and identify our students' greatest academic needs. It has been incredible watching the improvement that these funds have helped to create and I hope to continue to work with this team to see our previous goals into fruition. Cheers!
Tony Molchan
Bio: My wife and I have been community members for 25 years and have 2 boys in Parleys. We take pride in our town and our school and are always seeking ways to volunteer and add insight on how to build pathways for all of our children’s success.
