Message From The Principal
Good afternoon and Happy Friday!
It has been a great first (short) week with your students. Although it is not a typical year, I am impressed with the adaptability of staff and students. Having students back in the building has been something that we all have been looking forward to. Staff came together this week to ensure students were supported as needed. As the year progresses, we may need to make adjustments to protocols and procedures but we will always make sure students have a clear understanding of them.
One of the best moments of the week was watching as our 6th graders walked into the building for the first time, parents and staff spontaneously erupted in applause. We have missed our students!
On a procedural note, please pay extra attention to the section below regarding drop off and pick up guidance. We have a lot of families coming onto campus. We need to make sure we keep traffic moving in a safe and timely manner. I appreciate your cooperation as we get the year started.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Drop Off & Pick Up Traffic Congestion
As mentioned above, many of our families are dropping off and picking up their children. This is creating more traffic than usual in front of the school and on Laidlaw.
Washington County Sheriff's department is patrolling the area during drop off and pick up times to ensure student safety. They are issuing citations. Please follow School Zone speed limits. Once you’re on school property do not drive more than 10 MPH.
If you are parking to drop off or pick up your student, please escort them to or from the front of the building. Do not send them on their own through the parking lot. This creates a safety issue. We will not allow students to walk unescorted to or from the parking lot.
Friendly reminder, you are required to wear a mask while on school property.

Stoller Science Olympiad
Dear Parents,
Stoller Science Olympiad activities are kicking off.
Founded in 1984, Science Olympiad is one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing standards-based challenges to nearly 5,000 teams at 375 live and remote tournaments in all 50 states last year. Information can be found: https://www.soinc.org/
If your child is interested, please be aware that weekly commitment for the kids is upwards of 4-6 hours/week, and parent involvement is necessary for the team to participate in the events. Up to 15 students form a team, we currently have 2 teams, if student interest is high, we will need a parent to coach a 3rd team.
For questions or if interested in joining the team, please email team B coach Flori Perjeru at dr_perjeru@ hotmail.com

Travel and Returning To School
Questions have been raised regarding rules around traveling and quarantining before returning to school. Please review CDC guidance for domestic travel and international travel.
If you have questions please email Stoller at SMS-Communications@beaverton.k12.or.us
Mask Guidance
Governor Kate Brown has instructed all Oregon school districts to require masks indoors in all K-12 schools for staff, students and visitors, regardless of whether they’re vaccinated or not; the mask mandate includes our Pre-K students. Similar to last year, students with documented medical issues that prevent mask wearing may be exempt. Please email the office SMS-Communications@beaverton.k12.or.us for more information.
"Mask" and “face covering” are now used interchangeably in ODE and OHA guidance. A “mask” or “face covering” means a cloth, polypropylene, paper or other face covering that covers the nose and the mouth and that rests snugly above the nose, below the mouth, and on the sides of the face. Face coverings must be worn at all times when indoors unless eating, drinking, or playing an instrument and while on school buses. OHA guidelines state face coverings are currently mandatory while outdoors.
Please visit click this link "Back To School Information" for more BSD masking guidance.
