News From Mrs. C
Our class news for the week of Feb. 4-8th
Tidbits From the Teacher
Good Day!
The homework this week has the information about making a Valentine's box for our upcoming party. If you need a shoe box, please let me know. I've got several at school that would make perfect valentine boxes!
Our picture day is Thursday. We'll take our class photo and individual spring pictures. Anyone who needs to change clothes after pictures can do so.
PTA sent out an email saying that there are few more yearbooks for sale. You'll have to order it online because there won't be any extras in the office at the end of the year. A little birdie told me our page looks fab so be sure and buy a yearbook!
Things to Return:
-Homework on Monday
-Report card envelope (signed but empty)

What We'll Be Learning...
Science- We will be focusing on how we use natural resources to make things we use every day but with an emphasis on reducing, reusing, and recycling objects to help our natural world out. By the end of the week, we'll have informational posters created with quick ideas for helping to reduce/reuse/recycle in everyday ways.
Writing- Students just finished creating timelines about the famous American they chose to research. Starting this week, we'll move back into a more formal writing workshop method and will begin focusing on small moments in our lives. These small moments hold details and create stories that we'll work on capturing on paper.
Reading- We've begun the practice of being Third Grade Reading Detectives. We are using short passages with limited questions to learn the expectations for working through a reading passage to carefully answer questions as correctly as possible.
We will also be working on poetry. We'll study rhyming and non-rhyming poems and study the language that creates pictures in our minds.
Spelling/Handwriting- We have learned to form Cc, Oo, Ss, Vv, Ww, Tt, Aa, Dd, Gg, Uu, Ii, Ee, Ll, and Kk. Please make sure your child is using the correct handwriting position and using capital and lowercase correctly on these letters specifically.
We continue to work on spelling at school only. If spelling is added to our homework schedule, I will let you know ahead of time.
Class Wish List
I'm going to talk to the class about what tools they think we need for writing and reading. I know they are frustrated with our staplers right now and they tire of running out of tape so hopefully I'll be back with a Valentine Wish List!!
