Be Committed - Be Caring - Be Courageous
2018-2019 Theme: Follow My LEAD
PHMS Announcements: November 4-10, 2018
2. Report cards will be issued Monday.
3. Tuesday is Election Day. There is no school for students and staff.
4. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girl interested in participating in the 2019 Miss PHMS Pageant, please see Mrs. Wooten in the School Counseling office to pick up your parent information letter. Packets are due back no later than Wednesday.
5. PHMS will have a donut sale on Wednesday to raise money for the Veteran’s Day Breakfast on Friday. The cost is $10 for a dozen or $1 for one donut.
6. PTSA will be selling Pelican’s Snoballs during lunch on Thursday and Friday for $3.
7. On Friday, PHMS will honor military veterans with a special breakfast and assemblies beginning at 7:30. At 8:30, there will be assemblies honoring all the brave veterans who have served this great country. Students will be able to show their appreciation for these veterans, hear personal stories that span from Pearl Harbor to the War on Terror, and learn more about what it means to live by the code: “Duty, Honor, Country”… a code that these men and women exemplify.
8. The theme for the Book Fair this year is Enchanted Forest. Books can be purchased online Nov. 4-17 and at school in the Learning Commons Nov. 12-16 from 7:35 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Parents can sign up for eWallet (a digital payment option) for students anytime through the Book Fair homepage on the school website or the Learning Commons website. Using eWallet is a great option because students don’t have to carry money and parents can put as much money as they would like on their student’s account. Dress up as your favorite Enchanted Forest character on Friday, Nov. 16.

9. The deadline for students to turn in their Read Your Way to the Big Game sheets has been extended to Friday, Nov. 9. Students were emailed an extra copy this past week. They can also pick up an extra copy in the Learning Commons. Students who turn in their sheet will be entered in a statewide drawing to win 4 tickets and sideline passes to the Clemson/USC game on Nov. 24. Students who turn in their sheets have a chance to win a Clemson or a Carolina Jersey in a drawing at PHMS. Students who turn in their sheets also have an opportunity to make a “Frankentoy” during their lunch period this week. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Masters at mmasters@lexington1.net.
Character Development Center (CDC)-New name for ISS
The intention of the Character Development Center (CDC) is to provide students a place to learn, connect and repair the situation their choices created.
Mr. Kris Parker is the Character Development Coach. Through restorative practice strategies, Coach Parker will help students reflect on their behaviors, and guide them in conversation to understanding, learning and applying behavior change.
The goal is for students to leave the CDC ready to begin the restoration and repairing of the consequences that came along with their actions.
Again, CDC is now the new name for ISS. We are truly looking forward to this new change.
