PARKSIDE FAMILY NEWSLETTER
October 2021
Message from the
Hello Parkside families,
It has been wonderful seeing our students back in classrooms learning again! We have used the month of September to build relationships, create routines and learn academic and behavioral expectations.
This past month our school faculty and leadership team worked to solidify our school goals for the 2021-22 school year. We have four specific school goals tied to academics, social emotional development, and family engagement. Our academic goal is that each and every student will make at least one years progress in both reading and math.
For our social emotional goal we will work to maintain an environment where all students develop and demonstrate social and emotional necessary to manage life tasks, problem solve, self regulate and care for oneself, others and their community.
Our family engagement will focus on increasing our parents involvement in our school through developing opportunities for involvement that are reported as areas of interest by our Parkside families. Found within the newsletter is a survey we will use to help accomplish our family engagement goal. We appreciate your time in completing the survey below.
Last Friday every student and staff member met on the playground for an all school photo with their Parkside shirts on. We are thankful to many of our donors who provided funding so that each student could receive a Parkside Panther T-shirt.
As always, never hesitate to contact me regarding any questions you have. 920-929-2840 or ryand@fonddulac.k12.wi.us.
Take care and go Panthers,
Mr. Ryan

Masking
Masking
Face masks are optional we accept and respect people’s beliefs and values
The District’s position is to share the information with staff, students, and families and let each individual decide what is best for them.
It is the District’s position to value the individual's choice.
In order to remain neutral and value each individual’s choice, avoid statements like, “You don’t have to wear a mask if you don’t want to” or “The CDC recommends masking for non-vaccinated individuals.” Rather, you can use or defer to concepts like, “The messaging for masking will come from the District’s Superintendent” or “Right now, masks are optional in our District, which means each person has a choice” or “Let’s focus on how we are supporting one another’s choice.”
We maintain an educational environment that is free from all forms of harassment and bullying, including related to a person’s choice to wear or not wear a mask. Comments that are general in nature or including a person’s choice to mask or not mask will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
COVID-19 Protocol
Disclaimer: These protocols are subject to change as the pandemic evolves
The Fond du Lac School District strongly encourages students, staff and visitors to complete the COVID-19 Health Self-Screener before going onto school property, boarding a bus or participating in a school activity.
Student or staff experiencing symptoms (no known contact with a positive person)
Vaccinated or recent COVID-19 infection in the past 90 days- the student/staff should remain home until they are fever free for 24 hours and symptoms are improving. No testing required to return.
Unvaccinated- the student/staff is quarantined until they are fever free for 24 hours, symptoms improving, and a negative test to return (antigen or PCR). If symptomatic and declines testing, the student/staff quarantines for 10 days.
Due to COVID-19 safety protocol only essential visitors are permitted inside the school. Parents are encouraged to contact the office by phone or email.
If a student tests positive:
Family should contact the child’s school, direct all parents and families to contact the main office. After the school administrator or the nurse have spoken to the parents the administrator will conduct a contact tracing and contact students' families that have been exposed to the virus. An exposure would consist of being within 6 feet of that person for 15 min.
