Am I a millstone or a stepping stone??
It is easy to get caught up in a world of bitterness and resentment. Watch the news, log onto Facebook, bring up the word politics in a room of friends, and you will see bitterness and resentment come rushing out in full force. Bad things happen to each of us, each of us has our own struggles and stresses in life. It's how we choose to deal with those stresses ...as a millstone or a stepping stone...that truly change the course of who we are.
The past few weeks of school have been crazy busy. There are days when I can't even walk into the office without being swamped with a million things that weren't on my "to do" list to begin with. I feel stressed and overwhelmed, always praying we are doing the best we can for our kids. But then I walk into a classroom, I sit down to read, and it hits me just how lucky I am to have been given the chance to be a part of St. Patrick School.
It's easy to be a millstone in life. Misery loves company, right? It's easy to take my bad day and make it a bad day for everyone around me. It's easy to take my stresses and make them stresses for everyone around me. Yes, being a millstone is easy.
But being a stepping stone is so much more fun. Lifting someone up when they are struggling, smiling when someone is having a bad day, reaching out to a friend who is going through a hard time. There is nothing more rewarding than being a stepping stone and helping someone else pull their way out of a bad time.
Are you a millstone or stepping stone? Are you choosing to build people up or tear them down? Wouldn't the world be a really great place if we all chose to be stepping stones?
Think about it. What can you do to be a stepping stone for someone today?
St. Patrick Alum Helper!
Thank you, Malena!
St. Patrick School
The mission of St. Patrick School is to develop young men and women with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. Encouragement is given to students to bring their lives into conformity with God's will and plan, so that He is glorified.
