Luke Jets: August Flight Plan
Welcome Back to School and Remote Learning!
Week 1: Smiling Faces, Technology Challenges, and Parent Partnerships
This year is starting out like no other in history. Today, educating our students requires more from families and teachers than ever before. Some of us have flexed our work schedules, left our jobs or required help from friends and family to support the online learning needs of our children. These sacrifies show our commitment to their education and our belief that learning is important!
We are so grateful for the sacrifices you are making for our students and we value the strong partnership we have maintained through distance learning. Luke families are an amazing support system and we grately appreciate your commitment to student success. So far you've helped our students access their classroom meetings, log in to their Schoology accounts, check their email for daily updates, locate assignments, and stay connected with their teachers. We know this hasn't been easy! Thank you for being patient with us as we learn the "ins and outs" of this new educational reality. We could NEVER do this important work without you!
Again, thank you and welcome back!
The Breakdown: In-Person Learning vs. iSchool
All students enrolled in In-Person learning will be invited to the classroom daily at 8:45 a.m. and school runs from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (1:45 on Mondays). The classroom teacher will provide direct instruction and interact with students in real time over Google or Zoom Meetings. Students will access their FLV curriculum through the Schoology platform and will be required to complete daily assignments. Attendance is taken during each class period or subject, specials included. Students are scheduled to return to campus when it is safe to do so.
During distance learning, all iSchool students will be encouraged to attend the In-Person classroom sessions, though not required. iSchool student attendance will be taken based on contact made with the teacher throughout the school day.
Students can make contact by:
Attending an In-Person digital session
Emailing the teacher
Submitting an assignment online
iSchool students will access the FLV curriculum through the Schoology platform and will submit assignments on a more flexible schedule, as determined by the teacher. Students may request support from the teacher during office hours or via email. Students will remain online when schools reopen and teachers will no longer be providing direct instruction virtually. Teachers will still be available daily to assist and respond to iSchool students who need more support.
