From the Desk of Pastor Paul
Dear Friends,
This Sunday we will have the chance to bless and “send” all those engaged in educational pursuits – whether here in our congregation or in the wider community – to their ministries, which have already begun. Please keep these people in your prayers for God’s blessing on their efforts and fruitful responses in people’s lives. Pray especially for safety and protection of our public education facilities from senseless attacks!
We will also continue our series of messages from the Sermon on the Mount entitled “A Disciple’s Manifesto”. We’ll look at Matthew 5:13-16 where Jesus likens disciples to several concrete realities – salt and light. Salt is meant to add flavor and inhibit decay…light is meant to dispel darkness and guide someone’s path. We will reflect on what these images represent for us in our calling to live daily as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Also this weekend, on Saturday, we will have another work day on our campus grounds. Over the past month through volunteer efforts and the work of some paid tree pruning experts, we have seen a significant improvement of our grounds. But there is still more to be done…so if you can come join us Saturday morning anytime between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, it would be greatly appreciated. Some specific tools which would be helpful for our work: flat blade shovels and electric and gas powered hedge trimmers. We’ll also be weeding the border of the west parking lot, so gloves and weeding tools would also be handy.
See you Saturday and Sunday,
Pastor Paul
