Upcoming Drive Thru for Awards & More
In addition, during this same time period, students will be able to drop off instruments, chromebooks (for students leaving LCPS), textbooks, and/or library/classroom books. Please see the specific pick up and drop off information below:
Before Arriving at Willard (Car Window Sign): Parents should place a sign in their window with the first and last name of their child/children. In addition, please include your child's or children's grade level. Please write the information large enough to be seen from a distance.
Curbside Pick Up and Drop Off (Kiss & Ride Loop): Parents will enter the main entrance and follow the cones to the pick up and drop off locations. Using the properly labeled car window sign, Willard staff will bring you the necessary items. We will place items in the trunk of the vehicle. Parents and passengers should not exit the vehicle. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Positive Referrals & EOY Awards
This year was our first time recognizing students through out positive referral system in which teachers highlighted students who performed above and beyond for the week. Grade-level deans then reached out with a phone call and follow-up email to share the great news with families. We were able to recognize nearly 500 students in this way. This recognition will continue with our End of the Year (EOY) Awards on Tuesday, June 15, as part of our STEAM Day efforts. Students receiving an EOY Award will receive an email communication on Monday from their grade-level dean, so they make sure to join in during their Tuesday CLAWS Club. Thank you for being amazing, scholars!

Immunizations Required for Next Year
Prior to the start of the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, rising seventh grade students must turn in immunization records for both Tdap and Meningitis (ACWY).
The Tdap Booster is required for students entering the seventh grade. If a dose of Tdap has been administered after the age of 7 years, the Tdap booster requirement for rising 7th graders has been met and another dose is not required. The first dose of Meningitis (ACWY) shall be administered prior to entry to the seventh grade. The second dose shall be administered prior to entry to the twelfth grade. The HPV vaccine is recommended, but not required for a student to attend school.
Proof of your child having received all required immunizations must be submitted to your child’s school prior to Thursday, August 26, 2021 for your child to be allowed to attend school. The best way to turn in your child’s Immunization Records is to email them to Willard's nurse Melinda Wolfe at the following email address: Melinda.wolfe@lcps.org.
Expunging High School Grades
Based on a provision of the Virginia Standards of Accreditation, 8VAC20-131-90, a middle school student who has taken a high school course while in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade (such as Algebra I, Geometry, Robotics, or a world language) may elect to have the course expunged (grade and credit omitted) from the student's high school records. To do so, students and Wildcat families, will want to review this Permission Click form before Sunday, August 15. Moreover, we would highly recommend reviewing the following forms to see what options are available:
Course Recommendations
We want to ensure that all of our students are prepared for success in the level of courses they choose. For students who request to Level UP or Level DOWN from that which was originally recommended by the current teacher, we want to keep the door open for your decision. Parents, please complete this form if you wish to make a change to your scholar's course request for the 2021-2022 school year.
The deadline for all changes is Thursday, June 24. No changes will be accepted after this date.
Please feel free to contact your scholar's school counselor with any questions or concerns!
